Some parts of SMG2 are bothering me.
No "you got a star" message
No "you got a comet medal" message
No "you got some star bits" message
No "you got some coins" message
No "a prankster comet has appeared" message
No "the game has been saved" message
I only want the above if the actions associated with the messages still happen. I want my game to save, not to be told every time it does.
Depending on how possible it is:
No color tinting during prankster comet levels
No cloud tunnel after going from Starship Mario to world map
I'll see what I can do about the second to last one
What I mean when I say tinting is that every comet level has a weird border around the screen and a tint for the whole thing. I want both of those off, so it looks like a normal level and I can appreciate the beauty of SMG2.

The new "infinite starbits (starship mario) [wiiztec]" works perfectly it gives me 9998 on the starship and grabbing/shooting starbits does not give any 1 UPs.
However the new "infinite starbits [wiiztec]" still gives 1 UPs on a planet, and shows up as having 999 starbits (this seems to be the on planet limit not 9999 and gives a 1 UP at 999 I'm sure) so setting that to 998 instead would probably fix it.

Has anyone else had their Wiimote start going insane after playing for a while? Mine will start buzzing and the pointer doesn't move smoothly until I remove power from the remote and turn it back on. I've been trying to narrow down which code is causing this to happen, but I can't find a definitive way to trigger the failure. The only other symptom I've observed is a rare freeze when trying to launch a starbit, so I'm leaning toward this code as it's the only starbit related one I used:

I can confirm the problem with the current invincibility code, sense its the only code i'm using.
I can reproduce it by entering World 2 Cosmic Cove Galaxy Exploring The Cosmic Cavern, after you have entered the underwater cavern, then got hit by one of those big worms coming out from the wall or whatever they are called. then exiting the tube if you can. you'll experience the problem. Hope this helps to find the bug.

I hope this one's as easy to do as it sounds.
Press the C button to fly superfast while flying in "Red Star Flight" mode. (AKA an addition for the flying code)
Or just the C button to go really fast in general including Flight Mode.
If this or anything of the like works, it should be a blast to zoom all over the galaxies. The current flight is kind off .... well, really slow.
I'd like to request a code that makes the "time slowdown" effect last forever. There are a few stages where you can jump on a switch, and it slows time down for a limited time. Thanks!

Luigi can be used at any time once you first beat the game with 70 stars

thats because its still counting to max .> 999 is max
thats 9 1ups..
if u dont want one ups then your goin to have to use a code that disables 1ups for Each 100 gain its just the game running its checks :P
Oh ok I think I understand your answer, however I am using an old code of his that locks them at 99 (which doesnt give any 1Up's) I just thought he might like to know what the new code was doing but he probably already knew that (I didn't though)

Most Interested right now in a Infinite Health/Invincible code where you don't even get knocked down by enemies. I keep having the misfortune of being knocked down by enemies then bouncing off the map lol. :(
i'm in a problem, i have uloader 5.1d, try to load smg2 with any cheat, it won't load, while all other games i have do.
What usb loader works with this game and with the cheats for it?

the real address is probably in dynamic memory or something, and if it is I have no idea how to search for it since you have to go out of the level to go from prankser comet edge shading to a normal clear viewfield, and doing so would probably cause the location in dynamic memory to change

This is the first half of the code SMG1 code. Mario blinks red, like after he got hit...someone else want to write a code that keeps him from being red? I tried looking at hetoan's color modifier, but the instructions affect more than just Mario.
EDIT: Updated so that you don't have to get hit to become invincible.
ZiT's code doesn't need to be so many lines..you should only need 2.
When you get hit, you're invincible for a brief period. I found the counter and locked it to a 100. Zit has a code line near mine, but it's doing something different that will require you to get hit once, I think...unless one of the other codes is taking care of that.

ZiT's Invincible Code does Have a problem I do have to say if you get hit in water & get squashed a minor squash for example Bouldergeist you can't spin or pause the game at all this is a minor problem that needs a little fix. If you have the same problems post if yours is the same or different?!

I want it to be like 30 seconds, or just flat out double the time limit. I just had a thought though that the fire flower might need to be extended too. Another way to do it wouuld be to have a button combo that freezes the timer and reactivates it if pushed later. Same for the fire flower... I was surprised to see you guys working on it after like two hours of my original reply...

My gf doesn't like to use hacks, so I only get a few hours here and there to write hacks when I'm allowed to play, so I can't always test them completely. I release them to the Support thread first (very few people read the testing area). Like the invincibility code...that was changed a few times. I don't want that "paper trail" in the main code topic.
Once a few days pass, I move codes to the Code Topic. After a few more days pass, I release them to the database.

Sortof but the one from SMG1 allowed you to do unlimited mid-air jumps/spins to jump higher and higher... That one just allows you to do unlimited spins while on the ground... Or jump, spin then land and spin.

i'm surprised there is no code for this yet. some of those prankster comets and mini game levels with timers are impossible. i'm surprised Nintendo limited the time so much. is anyone actively working on this? is it even possible with the current tools? not sure what difference it makes with stopping the overall game timer. sure it's cool, but i wish they were labeled appropriately - i've tried 2 so far thinking they would stop the timers on prankster comets / mini games. i imagine my request is the MOST sought after hack for this game. anyone? anyone at all?

Although I can offer some help for you folks who are suffering, and it's not even technically cheating. Find a friend, give them player 2's Wiimote, and use Co-Star mode. Your little buddy can help pick up coins, purple coins, and he can also kill enemies.

Do you think you can make it toggle on and off? I just noticed that its not possible to finish certain countdown mission without having the counter reach 0 at one point (like the one with the monkey).

If you can't use CHEATS to beat a game, don't play it.

Uh... This is my first time requesting codes-- so ... Well... Uh... I may have a lot of requests
So, yeah, I really liked Mario Galaxy 2, found it quite difficult in a good share of areas. But after it was (all) over- I was thinking "What could make this game harder- easier- and still be fair"... O.K., that isn't an exact quote at all. But still- that's kinda what I wanna go for. I WOULD do it myself, but since I'm posting here, I cannot code. But what I want to do is modify how the game works (Particularly how Mario works against his environment) and create both a "Challenge Mode" and a "Retro Mode" in the same set of codes. I know this might not make sense yet- but let me finish. Here's a list of changes I wanted to Super Mario Galaxy 2 (It can be AS many codes as it takes).
First, I want Mario to only have 1 point of damage. In the old games- without powerups- Mario could only take one point of damage. (This should be easy)
Second, I want Mario's Powerups (excluding Rainbow Mario) to give him an 1 extra HP- and his powerups can only be lost by taking damage. (Dunno about this one)
Along with that, that means the timer on Fire Mario (As well as the music) has to go.
Third, I want Fire Mario to be more plentiful- in that those mostly useless items- like blocks that have star bits- and chance cubes that spit out enemies (Come on- they are not hard to kill or avoid) are replaced with the fire flower.
Fourth, regardless of powerups, Lava and spikes kill Mario instantly.
... And I'm stilling thinking of more-- One more, but this is only cosmetic, can someone PLEASE make the level stars solid no matter what. Those clear stars annoy me. But they still work like clear stars.
And it's not like I'm holding a gun to your head or anything and telling you to make these. Just if you can or feel like it.

- can't get any star bits
- can't dead when you falling in the black hole
- the walking wall will block your way.

I wanna request a code where you start with 99 purple coins so you only have to collect 1 to get the star. Some levels are a true pain even with the other cheats ( Luigis purple coins ugh...).
There should also be a warning the the no spin recharge code will cause the game to freeze alot and should not be used for normal play.
FYI, for those struggling with purple coin levels, I suggest getting a friend to use P2. One of P2's powers is the ability to grab coins. This includes purple coins! And it's not even a hack, either, so it feels more legitimate when you win.
No spin recharge is freezing? Perhaps instead of "no recharge" it could be "very very very short recharge"...
Would it be possible in increase the slipping speed? Like, slip faster than those big cylinders that crush you in slipsand (in the very long slide)

Can you make a list of the places/situations where it will freeze? it might help me find out what is causing them and then I can put in a sanity check to prevent them
The first time it froze I solved it by changing from usb loader to the original disc. That was during a cut-scene that happens (the speech about the final fight) after the last level in world 6 is being revealed and before you actually enter it. The second time that was definitely caused by this code was when I tried to talk with the first star in that last level. After that I just disabled the code.
btw a purple coin code is definitely needed. Some challenges are just utterly impossible (Rolling Coaster Galaxy) without it.

I SECOND THIS! idk how to explain it, but it is truly annoying. I could like replay missions without feeling a sense of pointlessness you know? it gets rid of the feel that you already completed it which makes me less enthused. So uh, if possible, please try to make this!
ah i wish i had USB Gecko, I work well with an action replay, Hexadecimals aren't too hard to work with. it looks like wii coding is much harder though.

I noticed simmilar issues, but it was in Sweet Mystery Galaxy when you try and break the Yoshi Egg no matter which way, jump on it or spin it, the game freezes upon breaking the shell.

This is indeed a great code. But for really fantastic results, try rewinding only 4 button presses. Kill an enemy, and it starts dancing while squashed. Hit a boss such as Pewee Piranha, and he goes flying off into space never to return. hit a crystal, and it creats a never ending crystal fountain. The most hillarious thing I've done so far is make Grand Goombas do backflips. xD As an added side effect if rolled back to this level it can also stop all timers for the duration that it is activated. The only bad part is the loud ringing that is created by the timer constantly being rewound every half a second. =P

Hey umm....I use the transformer code to great sucsess in both games. But in SMG the music won't start for the power ups. Can anyone make a code that makes the music turn on and be the slow version (not an endless loop of the 'time's runing out' part of the song) while it's on?
For anyone wondering about the status of the transformations code it is still being worked on. It seems that the Rock Mushroom and Cloud Flower must exist in the galaxy for the Cloud Mario and Rock Mario transformations to work correctly so I had to figure out a way to add them without being able to see or interact with them. That part of the code is complete but Rock Mario still doesn't work in some galaxies so currently I'm trying to figure out how to fix that. Also I should mention that it might not be possible to have all transformations loaded at the same time in all galaxies (the Star Station galaxy, which is the first galaxy, freezes on loading if the game tries to load all transformations; I have tried a few other galaxies with no problems so it may be just that galaxy, I'm not sure yet).

Hey brkirch could you port your Mario speed modifier code from SMG1?

The small 'problem' with your code is that at the end of the stage - it will say that you only get 99 purple coins. Yeah, at the start of the level, you see 99 purple coins and if you get 1 purple coin it will say 100. After testing your code, I just use "64" so that at the end of the level, the guy will say to you that you got 100 purple coins. Of course you can use 'higher values' than 64. Can there be a code that can stop you from going into warp pipes? like say for example standing on a pipe wont pull you into it. I ask because of levels that start out like rightside down and flipsville and Puzzleplank's purple coin mission force you to go into a pipe at the start. It would be nice if you can explore around those levels at that point.

This is a semi-experimental code. It is a multi-teleportation/levitation code. It works just like the multi-teleportation. However, if you hold b+arrow, the analog stick becomes a throttle. Mario will begin to levitate according to the orientation of the Wiimote, with the analog stick adjusting the speed of levitation. It takes some time to get used to. The problem is that we need to be able to levitate in 3 dimensions, but the analog stick can only move in two, which is why I use Wiimote orientation. And the levitation doesn't care about the camera orientation, so that can make some places (especially circular places) difficult to navigate.
On the bright side, you can go through walls. :)
Let me know what you guys think. I'm going to see if I can't rework it a bit to be easier to use, but I'm releasing this here in case some people want to mess with it and provide suggestions.

It's not quite finished yet. This code is evolving and I have a few more ideas. That's another reason why I released it...I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas to potentially add to the code. Once it's done, I can port it to SMG (and other codes, like surface swapper etc).
A little background story... (okay not really little so spoilered)
[spoiler]This all started with "coins don't disappear", which led to "1ups don't disappear" (timers are usually easy to find), and then I started messing with 1ups more, and made them bigger, then made them levitate (all by hand with Gecko.NET, at first). I hand-teleported the 1up to Mario, and then Mario to the 1up.
All that careful research lead to the standard teleporter, which only has one slot. After some playtime, I wished I could set more than one warp point, so then came the multi-teleporter. Then I noticed if I kept loading the coordinates, I would be frozen in the air, and the analog stick made me move just a pixel, and it gave me an idea...levitation! At first it was just adding one axis of the analog stick to one of Mario's coordinates. Then two. But how to get the third? I considered using Wiimote data, but I needed some way to turn the movement on and off. I considered a button, but that would make you move too fast, or too slow. So then I decided to use just one axis of the analog stick - so if you need fine-tune control over throttle speed, push the stick all the way to one side, and then slide it around the circle slowly. Much more precise control of throttle.[/spoiler]
I would like a way to specify warp points without actually being there. Like how I teleported Mario to the 1up, by hand. The problem is identifying which object you want to teleport to in-game...I was thinking about trying to use P2's grab to specify the coordinates to teleport to. Or if I had a list to cycle through, I could make the selected object bigger with a size modifier so you knew which one you were selecting.
I'm also only 90% certain I like the button activators. But it's not too bad; you don't shoot star bits if you press b off screen.
There are also other issues I might address, like freezing your coordinates during the store in case you are moving. Otherwise you end up storing the position Mario was in when you let go, when you probably intended to store the position when you pressed store.

This is an evolution of the multi-teleportation with levitation code. This code DOES require using p2's wiimote (I will be working on this step next so we won't need p2!)
When p2 grabs anything -- a 1up, an enemy, a coin -- the coordinates at the moment of first grasping will be stored in the second code. The second code also publishes a pointer to its data in gr8.
The first code works exactly like the previous code...except if you hold c while storing coordinates; then it will store the P2GrabWarp coordinates instead of Mario's.
To recap...
Four slots, defined by the arrow keys, referred to as [other]
b+z+[other] will store Mario's current coordinates
b+c+z+[other] will store P2GrabWarp coordinates
b+[other] will load the coordinates from that slot
b+[other]+[Analog Stick Y Axis] will levitate in a direction according to the Wiimote's orientation

mothersbrain - I don't know about a daredevil code, but I can probably make the game insta-kill you when you get hit no matter how much health you have. This will prevent the annoying 1-life-warning sound. And the coins-don't-heal shouldn't be too hard, either. It might take me a while to find some free time though, so someone else might beat me to it...

ah ok, that will work. although i think it might be too challenging lol, but i'd like to give it a go. at least until somebody does the coin thing which is a little more lenient on the player.
I was also thinking a Time Limit mode would be a fun challenge, it would be cool to turn the speed runs on for every level so that you have to be very precise. Obviously the 5 minutes will be not enough for some levels but we could just turn it off for those.

- Would it be possible for someone to edit this speed code to allow mario to slowly gain momentum, and reach a speed of about half of what he reaches in this? kind of like the 2d marios run button. combine that with the timed level code and youve got yourself a new game mode where you have to run through the levels like the 2d games. would be AMAZING.

EDIT: i tested it and it goes half speed, but it doesnt start slower and accellerate. i dont know if its possible to do though. but thanks for the code. it would be even cooler if it started at marios normal run and built up to half speed over a few second.

thats awesome! this accelerate really adds to the game, it makes it feel fast like super mario world. Would you be able to make a time limit code that sets the levels at 3-4 minutes? that way you have to run through the levels quickly...would really add to the challenge and fun of the game IMO

That's probably where on the stack the game normally reads the floating point value from, so it just overwrites that floating point before reading from it like it normally would
I don't think you're right, wiiztec. When we create a stack frame, we subtract from the stack pointer to allocate memory. Therefore, the room we made is "above" the stack pointer, so the stack should always be accessed using positive offsets. Accessing the stack with a negative offset is essentially touching unclaimed memory! The compiler would not violate the PowerPC stack convention.
In theory, it shouldn't cause any problems - after all, no function has laid claim to the memory - but I can see how in extremely exotic situations this could create a problem. It just gives me the willies to see it.
I don't know why the C2 code doesn't stw r12,632(r29) and then lfs f0,632(r29). Then you don't need to touch the stack at all. That unclaimed memory on the stack is only serving as an intermediary to assist with loading f0.

Also a "Yoshi loads upon level start up/death" code would be nice also.
brkirch is already working on a transformations code that includes Yoshi.
There are a bunch of other "Yoshi Ground Pound" like things that I would like to do or see done, like repeatedly wall kick off the same direction, and pounding out of a long jump, and double jumping after a side jump...things like that. I imagine there's a "Mario Jump State" variable somewhere that determines what type of actions you're allowed to do. I found it in the first SMG, when trying to expose the p2-super-jump. In fact, after seeing Flying Mario, I bet the super-jump is still in there...hmm....

Because in some levels when I try the 100 coins Cheat the Gold Star is not appearing.

In the World S-4 there is this blue Button which speeds down the level for a few seconds.
Maybe someone could change it that the slow motion stays on all the time during that level.

Well i kinda tried to find the values needed..didnt write any notes so this is all i have left. I moved on to another game so i didnt finish this one. I know this does not work, but it changes the state you are in. But i dont think thats all whats needed. You can take a look around in that memory location. Maybe you find something interesting..

It takes a lot of time to write a good code. It takes even more time when that good code is many hundreds of lines of ASM. I'm sure brkirch just wants to make sure he releases a good code that doesn't crash.

Can somebody change the button activators or tell me how to change them on the surface cycler code? Having the home menu or the pause menu pop up every time I change a surface is really annoying. =/
The menus only come up if you hold the buttons for a certain amount of time, just a normal short tap shouldn't cause them to come up, I didn't design the code with holding the buttons in mind

My computer was out for a repair for about a week and a half so I simply have had no opportunity to do anything with it. Hopefully I'll be able to finish my work on the first version of the transformations code within the next few days, but keep in mind that the first version of the code will not have Yoshi included.

A lot of the hacks make playing the game pointless...for me, it's not about playing the game anymore, I just have fun trying to do crazy stuff. It's about digging through the game code and writing an epic hack that radically alters the game, like the Teleportation/Levitation/P2GrabWarp code.
Anyway, add a button activator and you can then skip the stars you don't like...for instance, the haunted ones.
Since there are codes to alter Mario/Luigi's Sizes, there should be one to alter Yoshi's. and maybe size changers for all NPCs and Enemies and Items.

Not really, except the Cosmic Clones sometimes appear too early in some galaxies and cause unavoidable damage to Mario (I plan to fix this problem before releasing the code). There is also considerable lag on some galaxies which seems to be somewhat correctable by reducing the number of clones from the default of 40.

For each galaxy the Cosmic Clones have to be added when the galaxy loads.

Yay finally Transformation code! ;D now I can be Rainbow all the time!
EDIT: Testing Results: Can cause freezes at random. Game will most certainly freeze if you try to load all of them at once into most levels (though it does work for some levels). The code also automatically loads a power if its already available in the level (such as the fire flower in Battle Belt). One level the code will always crash on it seems is Freeze Flake's "Sorbetti's Chilly Reception". and one small side effect is that level intros have a weird camera angle on startup.

Could someone make a code that slows down only the animation for mario/luigi. something similar to the matrix roll for TP, but is on all the time.
Is there currently a code for making your bird go faster? In the flying minigames with the bird races I want to go faster. If I need to pull up to go over something, I want to keep fgoing the same speed as I would be if I was doing a dive. If this code doesn't exist, can somebody make a code for your bird to go a constant speed of about 2 times faster than normal?

ardemii's second jump is third jump makes me nervous. It looks like he's trying to use a constant Mario pointer instead of hooking ASM. If the pointer moves, it could cause problems.
You also have a LOT of codes. Try removing the second half of your codes. If it works, then the bad code was in the second half. If it still breaks, the bad code is in the first half; split the bad half in half again.

EDIT: Testing Results: Can cause freezes at random. Game will most certainly freeze if you try to load all of them at once into most levels (though it does work for some levels). The code also automatically loads a power if its already available in the level (such as the fire flower in Battle Belt). One level the code will always crash on it seems is Freeze Flake's "Sorbetti's Chilly Reception". and one small side effect is that level intros have a weird camera angle on startup.

Not really, except the Cosmic Clones sometimes appear too early in some galaxies and cause unavoidable damage to Mario (I plan to fix this problem before releasing the code). WiiMaster, infinite starbits (starship) and the teleporter code cause the game to lockup so just turn off starbits on the star ship as you don't really need that

someone should make codes to allow the orange/yellow gates to be enabled and working and you get a number everytime you enter without fluzzard so you can get comet medal without fluzzard. you just need to use flying code and some code to enable the orange/yellow gates as if you have fluzzard.

And 2, I know Red Star Mario is technically in the game but he's missing a few of his original abilities such as collecting nearby coins and starbits simply by spinning while within reach. Is there any way this half of the power could be reimplemented into the game, or would it require a patch?

I have an NTSC wii and the transformations code only lets me change into flying mario/luigi and any other power up in the level. so say there is a cloud thing it will only let me change into flying mario/luigi and cloud mario/luigi.
Load the abilities on Starship Mario. You could then use any ability on any level, assuming the level doesn't freeze because of the code. Hold 1 and press 2 three times to load/unload an ability. This way you can use Cloud ability without the need of a Cloud Flower in the level.

But neither will work. What I'd like to know is, are they not working by any chance due to my save game file being in the 3rd save slot and the codes are maybe designed to only work on the 1st save slot?
Is it possible to make a code to make the Fluzzard races easier? Like, make the opponents slower/stopped?
I tried to use the one to stop enemies and obstacles and such, but it doesn't seem to work after the race starts, and if I use it before the race starts, it freezes the opponents, but it freezes Fluzzard in place as well.

Something I need to mention about this code. When tried as is, you will get 100 purple coins however the star would not appear. You have to change the code at the end of the second line from 64 to 63. This way, although the button combo will give you 99 purple coins instead of 100, once you grab another purple coin the star appears! So, happy to have helped with that quick fix ^^.

Hey, I'm after a cheat that can remove the cosmic guide from levels - it reminds me of my repeated failure and it's like my file is 'tarnished'.
I would love any and all codes to make the Fluzzard levels easier, they drive me nuts. :-[ A code to make Fluzzard faster than his opponents would help greatly. Any efforts in this direction would be vastly appreciated. :)
Why do so many people ask for cheats that make 1 certain level easier? Are you aware that pushing down on the remote makes the bird go faster? You could transfer the save file to me and I'll do the level, and have it back within the hour - I did it first time.
Or you could use the invincibility cheat so you can fly straight through enemies so you don't have to weave all over the place.
Any word on v2 of the transformation code or the clone spawner?

I would kinda like to see somebody make a code to automatically make the Cosmic Guide appear. I know most of the codes that make things easier just take the fun out of the game, but honestly that was a cool feature that I only ever used one time. I think it's neat watching the game play by itself and seeing how the developers programmed the moves for each level. Also, I'm curious to see what would happen if you basically made the entire game play itself. (Like, getting no stars on your own, all the way up to the final boss.) Not because I wanna cheat, but stuff like that is fun to watch. (Like when you'd play the old Mario Party games and put all the players as computers to watch them play.)
Also, I understand that being asked the same thing over and over is really annoying, but I agree with the others. If you can't finish that cosmic Mario clone code, can you release what you had to make that picture?

Simple. Just try to apply less codes while playing, you may have selected too many. On some occasions during the game you may just want to play through without codes, then use them later in the game. If this didn't help, then the disc may hold your problem, is it fogged up, is it scratched? Also make sure the settings on your Gecko/Gecko OS app are straight. I hope I have resolved your problems. ;)
