Sorry, but I am not familiar with the Homebrew Browser.  However, I don't see why this update should cause any problems with it, as all it does is download files to the SD card, and not the Wii console.

Well, I'm not that educated in this area. It said there was an update for Ocarina so I updated it. When I try to load Ocarina it says "not a valid wii application". This was caused by the new update right? Should I just re-install Ocarina? I still have it saved on my computer.

I forget, but is your version of Ocarina an ELF or DOL file?  You may have updated to the Beta 9 version of the Homebrew Channel.  Current ELF files will not work with this version.  You can read more about it here...

Well I have some great news and some bad news for me anyway and maybe yall. The bad news is I just accidently deleted my homebrew channel from my wii menu and i can't get the homebrew channel back. But the great news is i can still use gecko os and ocarina by just booting the 2 using their boot files directly from my sd card. So it will keep me busy until they can come up with a solution on how to install homebrew again.

There is a solution right now...

This version of the Homebrew Channel will install on all firmwares.

Why people continue to use Ocarina when GeckoOS as taken is place?

hetoan2

because people use homebrew browser and don't actually check their online sources

A friend of mine told me that if you can use Anyregion Changer to downgrade to 3.2U.  I plan on doing this, I believe I'm still at 3.3 (didn't update the newest.

So basically if you DO use the Wii Shop channel (I'm sure many do not) you probably can just switch between IOS51 and Wii Shop Installer and update 3.2U...

Ok since I've updated my Homebrew Channel, some apps do not work.  I've used the link on the first post of this thread and got gecko working.  The obvious problem for the certain apps not working, is because they are boot.elf.  I've downloaded Devkit pro but I'm not exactly sure WHAT command to enter.  I entered :

powerpc-gekko-objcopy -O binary boot.elf boot.dol

But nothing happened.  I think it's because I didn't specify which file I wanted devkit pro to convert.  How do I specify the file?  I just want exactly what I need to type into devkit pro to make my homebrew browser running again.

UGH, the message I keep getting no matter what I try is:

sh: powerpc-gekko-objcopy: command not found

Or, if someone can just convert me the file and attach it to their post, that'd be nice.

I just got some a new e-mail in my wii saying for a new update. the e-mail said that it wii automanically get rid of files that are not nessceary, which gives me a bad vibe that they know about the USB GECKO. So I was wondering if anyone has already updated their wii and do they yet still have the homebrew channel?
I updated, and I still have the HBC.

I think it just keeps people from getting the HBC on their Wiis if they don't already have it.

The Wii system has many bugs! HBC can be installed with the shop update!

Get Homebrew channel beta9.. and install it using the TP hack.. beta8 can't be installed, beta9 uses a new bug!
