Stuff

yeah 10 is 0. I guess they didn't want to do signed numbers. But I needed to see the code in action and this made me giggle a little:
[spoiler=clust+ ][/spoiler]

It's fun seeing stuff like that from time to time. Like invalid sharpnesses. XD

But yeah this post explains the talisman code very good:
http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,5476.msg66722.html#msg66722

So your code should be this:

4A000000 90000000
140E2624 06000006
140E2628 1411001B
140E262C 002D0000
E0000000 80008000

you were adding 0 points to clust and -3 points to nothing and then there was some extra nothingness at the end.
I think I got that talisman legit :p. I wanted trapmaster though...XD

You can check the modecode generator's progress here if you want:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24514984/modcodes.htm

I want it to be a web page instead of a pc app because in the future I want to add url arguments(share your setup kind of thing). I'll probably leave out renaming stuff for that because it'll probably create enourmous links. Currently it only does some dropdown boxes that you would have to chose from And I only coded what happens when you select Weapons->GS so far(took forever to get it to read binary and then I had silly errors everywhere >.<). The new issue is the binary reading. I realized that I'm forcing you to "download" DUMP80.bin just to load the weapons list. >.< I'm definitely not hard coding names and locations of everything. I'll probably make a small bin file with just the data needed(time for another Main(). >.>)

Haha, I just tried your link, couldn't go anywhere after talisman, so I tried weapon, then I tried to select GS and it froze my browser. Tried again same thing (latest version of chrome btw).
Anything I can do to help? Obviously not coding, but I could give some values for you like Evasion = 3A (any weapons etc). Just tell me what to do and how to send it to you and I'd love to.
I thought I'd try your Mod Code Generator (once it gets finished it needs a cooler name btw) to make a Awaken +3 1 slot talisman but it's not done. Looking good so far, and I'll get back to making an awaken +3 1 slot (please don't post the code, I want the satisfaction of actually doing it myself. I was actually thinking of making heaps of default codes for myself such as B+7 2slot, A+4, 3 slot, C+10 2 slot, B+7 C+10, all the good legal talismans, but I'd probably end up needing help anyway.

Edit: FYI it only freezes for GS, all other selections are fine.

Stuff

Yeah I only coded the stuff for Weapon->GS. It locks up for me too. It's because it makes you dl 58mb of nonsense to get the names from. On a faster connection a takes a few seconds to load the list...I'm working on a smaller bin file that only stores the the names, descriptions, and addresses. And a pointer to each. Hopefully 600kb is reasonable.

hmm. idk how you can help. I know what the digits are XD. I even have title digits. Well. Since your posting in Pal, you could try these and tell me if they work:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24514984/mh3renamestuff.txt

I know it's a long list XD. I should put a table of contents on it. Just search for your favorite of each weapon, armors, title, monster, item(Longsword 0028)...I think that's everything. Most of them have descriptions. Try each direct write code(the ones that aren't at the top) and see if they work and then try the pointer codes(the ones at the top). These were made for the US version. I think I said they worked in EU, but I don't remember.

Oh and do the weapon/armor mod codes work in EU?

btw. I'm scared to put all that in the db. It's just gonna do it wrong.

What's wrong with "Mod Code Generator"? That's what it's supposed to do. I mean, if you have an idea, I'll change it as long as it makes sense.

SLOT 800
It will Look like this
4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 XXYYxxxx
140E38E8 XYxyAAAA
140E38EC BBBByyyy
E0000000 80008000

*XX=Item Type Mod
*YY=Slots (THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOU USE 0-3 SLOTS YOU USE THIS ORDER)
-Orders
-No Slots, AAAA=SKILL 1, BBBB=SKILL 2,yyyy=No function (leave 0000)
-1 Slot, AAAA= DECO 1(leave 0000),BBBB=SKILL 1,yyyy=SKILL 2
-2 Slot, AAAA= DECO 1(LEAVE 0000), BBBB= DECO 2 (leave 0000), yyyy= SKILL 1 (ALSO TAKE OFF THE SKILL VALUE ON SKILL # 2)
xxxx=Equipment mod talisman 0000-0007 (0001= pawn - 0007= Dragon tali)
XY= SKILL number 2 VALUE ( +1-20 on Skill2)
xy= SKILL number 1 VALUE (+1-20 on skill 1)

wherever i look i cannot find the didgits!!!! :eek:

Can someone help clean this up a little? I'm trying to understand it but characters he's used keep overlapping.
Can someone check my work? I didn't understand his post fully.

4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 XXYYxxxx
140E38E8 XYxyAAAA
140E38EC BBBByyyy
E0000000 80008000

XX = talisman (not weapon)? = 06?
YY = slots = 00 for zero, 01 for one, 02 for two, 03 for three.
xxxx = what rarity (0001 pawn - 0007 dragon)

Zero slot talisman:
AAAA = skill one (IE: 003A for evasion)
BBBB = skill two (IE: 0036 for psychic, 0000 for no skill)
yyyy = no function (0000)

One slot talisman:
AAAA = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value found here http://www.geckocodes.org/index.php?c=RMHE08&page=5.)
BBBB = skill one (IE: 003A for evasion, 0000 for no skill)
yyyy = skill two (IE: 0036 for psychic, 0000 for no skill)

Two slot talisman:
AAAA = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value here)
BBBB = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value here. However if you have a two slot decoration in slot one, leave this blank)
yyyy = skill one (IE: 003A for evasion, 0000 for no skill)

Three slot talisman:
AAAA = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value here)
BBBB = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list. However if you have a two slot decoration in slot one, leave this blank)
yyyy = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value here)

The values (IE: +7 to be attributed to evasion) stay constant.
xy = First skill's value (+1 to +10. This affects the first actual skill)
XY = Second skill's value (+1 to +10. This affects the second actual skill)

So for an example, to make a dragon rare 7 talisman with 1 slot, and 1 skill of FreeElement (awaken) to have +3.

4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 06010007
140E38E8 00030000
140E38EC 00500000
E0000000 80008000

Just checking this now ^

Edit: Closest I've been yet! This time I only made one error :P
My talisman was -7 free element instead of +3. What a horrible talisman :D
I put 3 in my calculator and clicked hex and it kept as 3. I messed up on this last time converting 10 to A, which I put 0A. How do you know and find out which numbers to put? I've bolded my error so you don't need to look as hard. Some how 03 gave me -7. What are 1-10 in hex?
Anyway I like how this code is for slot 800. I think I understand how to change slots in the equipment box, so I can do a few talismans at a time :)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/eb/Hexadecimal_multiplication_table.svg/220px-Hexadecimal_multiplication_table.svg.png
This has 3x1 as 3, so hex should be 3. It needs 2 digits so what do I write, 03? Or 30?

Stuff

XD I didn't even know there was a hex multiplication table. 00-0A are -10-0 so you have to add 10 to your desired amount. 3+10 = 13 -hex-> 0D. I don't think I need to explain why you see -7. :p

Everything you said was right(that's why you were so close) except for the decoration digits part. geckocodes doesn't have decoration digits. They just have the item number for them. I posted the digits here:

http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,5501.msg76892.html#msg76892

As for the talisman modding, this is the best guide EVAR
Quote from: daijoda on October 07, 2011, 11:42:06 AM
Talismans look like this:

06_______SLOTS _00_RARITY
POINTS2_POINTS1_00_SKILL1
00_______SKILL2__00_SKILL3

no slots:
SKILL1 is armour skill corresponding to POINTS1
SKILL2 is armour skill corresponding to POINTS2
SKILL3 = 00

1 slot:
SKILL1 = 00
SKILL2 is armour skill corresponding to POINTS1
SKILL3 is armour skill corresponding to POINTS2

2 slots:
SKILL1 = 00
SKILL2 = 00
SKILL3 is armour skill corresponding to POINTS1

3 slots:
SKILL1 = 00
SKILL2 = 00
SKILL3 = 00

To calculate points:
take the points you want --> +10 --> convert to hex

So, for a rarity 6 king talisman, no slots, +6 attack, +10 perception, it would be:
06 00 00 06
14 10 00 21
00 49 00 00

I've been going wrong with that all along ;_;
I knew to translate to hex, didn't know to add 10.
Thanks Stuff. Oh well I'll clean up that guide so it's simpler and nub friendly, and give an example for each code. I want to make it so someone like me can look at the guide and go to code manager and get it right first time.

Edit: wtf stupid phone, I edited with way more and it deleted. Ugh. I'll just summarize.
1. Barbarian blade worked on PAL.
2. Your creation, name it what you want. Make it stand out :D
3. What are you asking me to do? I don't see codes on that page.
4. For the mod code generator, what work is left to be done? I thought transferring all digits would be an easy but incredibly slow process (imputting stuff like 0062 for some sword).
5. Anything I can do to help, I don't have bootmii so I'm lazy, testing codes could brick my Wii couldn't it?

Stuff

By Barbarian Blade, do you mean the weapon mod codes? Like you changed it's stats and it worked?

There were no codes here? Strange. I'll have to add them to the db. I didn't want to...

The digits aren't even important. I'm trying to make the page get all he names from a ram dump because that's how all the name/description codes were made. I wasn't about to manually write all of those codes >.<. I bet that's how Skiller got the digits and stuff. Screw doing manual work. Make the computer do it for me. Here's some old code that I was originally using:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24514984/mh3tablearrays.txt
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24514984/mh3tablecontents.txt

The computer took about 2 seconds making those text files XD. All I had to do was copy and paste it. But even that's bootleg. I thought "why can't I just upload a dump and let it read from it?". So that's what it's doing now. The choice in the dropdown box has a index number and that number will match with the digits. If I can't use the selectedIndex property, I'll just assign a value to each item. Then I'll use the value that the dropdown gives in an equation like the one I posted
Quote from: Stuff on December 02, 2011, 07:49:38 PM
[Slot1's mod code] + (x-1)*(0xC) = [desired slot code]
where x is the selectIndex/value. The dropdown boxes don't even exist until it's needed.

The user doesn't need to know all of that stuff. They just need to worry about what they want the weapon/w.e to be like. And I don't need to know either. I just need to know what the 1st one is. The browser will do the rest. :p

As for progress, I'm not very organized and I don't plan things efficiently. One day, things just get done. Honestly, I haven't touched modcode gen since I posted it. Well that's because I'm thinking about how I want the new dump to look like. But once the dump gets done, I'll probably just put it in a folder somewhere until I wake up one day and decide that this needs to get done. >.< But I do have an order I'm going to tackle everything.

The dump first. And hoping that downloading about 600kb per view is reasonable. I'll probably have that happen on page load.(the dump is where it will be pulling all the names from, btw.)
Then I want Melee Weapons to be finished. This was the original reason I started this and it was for myself.
Box mods will be next
And then Talisman creation because it's really a box mod
Pouches
Armor
Guns

And then polish it up and make it look pretty. Each step might take a day to complete. I might knock out more than one step depending on the mood. I can't really focus on this right now because I have Finals this week. But after that I'll have a little bit of free time. Hopefully I can get the majority of this done by Xmas so it can be my gift to everyone who cares. lol.

I don't think a bad code can brick your wii unless it's really bad. But I'll test them myself. Don't tell anyone.

That'd be an awesome gift :D
I care!

Not sure if you know http://divinewh.im
In my opinion the best resource. And if you go to http://divinewh.im/s/ you can see how talismans and armor works with that. When you select something, then it loads it, rather than loading everything unnecessarily. I view it constantly on phone (like atm) and it wouldn't be as great if it was sucking my bandwidth. Still, however you get it done it'd be amazing. I'd probably save the page so my internet doesn't die.
I'm not sure if I can help, just let me know anything time consuming you'd cbf doing.

Stuff

Yeah I know about divinewhim. I tried looking at the source code before to see if I can make a "legit talismans only" option and the url arguments(share this set), but yeah.. I love his source code, though. Very funny comments and I love his public license.

idk what would be better. Loading about 600kb at once, or loading what's needed when it's needed.(anywhere from 50-150kb(wild guess) at some point). The second might be easier to do now that I think about it. Have like a separate file for each item type(item, GS, LS, Helm).

What do you think? The loading will happen when you have to choose the weapon class and stuff if I do it the second way. Every time you change the weapon class and stuff. Or everything could just be there always.

Well since you'd be using your phone, you can tell me if it's mobile friendly when it's done. Cuz I can't test that >.<.

Mobile friendly isn't a must, I don't have Ocarina on my phone :p
Work on getting it done. I don't care if I have to use the computer, having it done will be amazing.
Anyway tbh whatever is easier for you. Now that I'm thinking realistically, I wouldn't use it on my phone because of the fact I can't really put the codes on my SD via phone.
Anyway, need to go, good luck.

How to make custom talismans in Monster Hunter Tri (MH3)
Link to this post if people ever ask. Trying to dumb it down as much as possible :D

When I first started hacking talismans I needed a lot of help. I went all around the place finding different codes and information. It never seemed to be in one spot. So now I am trying to sum up everything and make a tutorial.
Note: I did not hack this code. It was hacked by Skiller. It places the talisman of your desire infinite times in slot 800 of your equipment box, until you take the code off. Either have Skiller’s code to have 800 slots, or acquire it in the game. If you don’t have all 8 pages in your equipment box it may crash your game.
Please read the whole post before attempting a talisman.

So here's the base code:

4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 06XXxxxx
140E38E8 XYxyAAAA
140E38EC BBBByyyy
E0000000 80008000

Skill Values
The values (IE: +7 to be attributed to evasion) stay constant.
xy = First skill's value (+1 to +10. This affects the first actual skill, not first slot)
XY = Second skill's value (+1 to +10. This affects the second actual skill)
Go to your calculator on your computer. If I want to add +7 to a skill, you do 7+10, then convert to hex. 17 -> 11
XX = amount of slots you want. = 00 for zero, 01 for one, 02 for two, 03 for three.
xxxx = what rarity (0001 pawn, 0002 bishop, 0003 knight, 0004 rook, 0005 queen, 0006 king, 0007 dragon)

Depending on how many slots, the other letters change function. Below I will explain them all and give an example for them all.

Zero slot talisman:
AAAA = skill one (IE: 003A for evasion, get the full list here http://www.geckocodes.org/index.php?c=RMHE08&page=5)
BBBB = skill two (IE: 0036 for psychic etc, 0000 for no skill)
yyyy = no function (0000)
You can only have 2 skills.
Here's an example of a dragon talisman (0007) attack (0021) +7 (11), speedsetup (0046) +10 (14), no slots.
4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 06000007
140E38E8 14110021
140E38EC 00460000
E0000000 80008000

One slot talisman:
AAAA = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value found here http://www.geckocodes.org/index.php?c=RMHE08&page=5. This is the slot, so if you put a skill it will be a different gem)
BBBB = skill one (IE: 003A for evasion, 0000 for no skill for the full list view the mod code list on gecko)
yyyy = skill two (IE: 0036 for psychic, 0000 for no skill for the full list view the mod code list on gecko)
For a 1 slot talisman you can have 2 skills.
Here’s an example of a king talisman (0006 though I think legitimately it would be dragon) Evasion (003A) + 7 (11), Attack(0021) + 3 (0D) with 1 slot.
4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 06010006
140E38E8 0D110000
140E38EC 003A0021
E0000000 80008000

Two slot talisman:
AAAA = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration mod code list)
BBBB = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration mod code list. However if you have a two slot decoration in slot one, leave this blank)
yyyy = skill one (IE: 003A for evasion, 0000 for no skill). For a 2 slot talisman you can only have 1 skill.
Here’s an example of a dragon talisman(0007), Evasion (003A) + 7 (11), with 2 slots.
4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 06020007
140E38E8 00110000
140E38EC 0000003A
E0000000 80008000

Three slot talisman:
AAAA = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value here)
BBBB = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list. However if you have a two slot decoration in slot one, leave this blank)
yyyy = blank (0000, if you want to code in a decoration use the decoration list value here)
So for a dragon(0007) 3 slot talisman with no skills.
4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 06030007
140E38E8 00000000
140E38EC 00000000
E0000000 80008000

So for a final example, to make a dragon(0007) rare 7 talisman with 1 slot, and FreeElement (0050) to have +3(0D).
4A000000 90000000
140E38E4 06010007
140E38E8 000D0000
140E38EC 00500000
E0000000 80008000

Just to point out, the letter O is never used. It'll always be 0 (zero).
Please point out any mistakes so I can edit it properly so it’s foolproof :)
To pay back the community, if you’re having trouble I will make the talisman and help explain.

Finally if I helped you, please say so. This has taken over an hour, and I’m doing it for anyone having trouble. I’d love to hear from you. Keep in mind that skiller hacked this code, not me. And thanks to stuff for bearing with me as I learnt, and helping along the way.
