Romaap

the homebrew channel needs the files to be in this structure:

SD:\apps\(nameofapp)\boot.dol
                               \meta.xml
                               \icon.png

the wad files needs to be in the SD:\wad folder

Romaap

then just copy the meta.xml and icon.png from another app place them in your WAD manager folder and edit meta.xml with notepad and edit icon.png with paint.

hetoan2

just put it in a folder and look for the directory. the meta.xml and the icon.png aren't actually needed, it just makes things nice. it will just show up in the end of all the other apps without a meta.xml and it will show up as "\apps\(nameofapp)\boot.dol"

I got a GC Action Replay (which is supposedly compatible with the Wii) and my Wii doesn't even detect it. When I try to load it I get an error message. I tried GCBooter and it doesn't work. What should I do?

Sorry for beign slow on answering.. I assume you're European.. Many Action Replays have a US region code. When you insert them on a Gamecube the region free unit in them immediately activates and thus you can use them despite having the US region on a EU Gamecube. The Wii doesn't fall to the AR trick.. so the Wii unfortunately detects: US region, I am EU Wii - so "cannot read disc". Starfall on 3.2E would be your friend there!

TOPIC = Using USB Gecko to Make/Use Codes for Gamecube

Quote from: REDSOXROX on August 30, 2008, 04:36:40 PM
Is it possible? I'm confused, but just got my Gecko.
I have a:
UNmodded Wii,
SD Card,
Gamecube,
USB Gecko,
GC Memory Cards

Is there any way to use it with GC Games with this?

You'll need a way of booting Gamecube homebrew. Some of these ways include:

1.) SD Media Launcher (by Datel)
2.) Modchip
3.) Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II (NOT plus) along with a BBA and Cat5e Cable.
4.) Old Action Replay (GCN) + SD Gecko

Now, I recommend the SD Media Launcher. Options 3 and 4 are not only expensive to get; but can be a HUGE pain to find nowadays. I doubt you want to mod your Wii/Gamecube either.

The SDML (SD Media Launcher) will probably cost you around ~$30 USD (with shipping). It can be found on codejunkies. I assume you don't need a SD Card, so don't buy the bundle packages (they cost more). I got mine within a week of ordering it.

EDIT: SDML also works on Wiis with 3.2 and below firmwares. I'm unsure if it works on 3.3.

Can someone explain how to do method three?

You would use PSOload.

http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/PSOload

QuotePSOLoad is the longest standing software DOL loader. It works by tricking a game called Phantasy Star Online (PSO) into downloading code from the network. PSO tries to connect to a central server if you want to play an online game, and the network protocol provides the facility to download an updated version of the game executable. By providing a fake server on the local network this mechanism can be used to upload arbitary code to the GameCube.

This technique requires a copy of PSO (Episode "1&2" only, not 1&2plus, not 3), a broadband adapter and a PC running the tool "PSOLoad" connected the the GameCube via Ethernet.

Keep in mind that a Gamecube is required for PSOload.
Currently "retired" from hacking codes.

I have both my Gamecube and PC connected up to the router. I run PSO, go into online mode, and get the PSOLoad running on my PC. However PSO gets a screen saying it failed to connect to anything, do I need to tinker with the PSO Network setup and tell it to connect to my computer's IP? Cause it's on that automatic stuff

*EDIT*

Okays, so I got it to work but whenever I hit start it freezes and gives me a red screen which says hit start to reset the system...

REDSOXROX

Well, I was trying to convert some codes to use with F-Zero GX, and I came across a few problems.

1: Should I still convert and have the Master Code on when using cheats via WiiRD?

2: When I convert alot of codes they get split, like for example

20000000 00000000
WiiRD does not support this codetype
line
line
line
WiiRD does not support this codetype
E0000000 80008000

Which parts am I supposed to copy? I tried just the parts inside the errors and it froze.
Or can you not use a code then? Because pretty much all of them gave this error...

okay, but what about converting
not a clue... you could always find an ar code type doc then change it by hand...

First, I recognise this isn't about codes for a Gamecube game, but it doesn't really fit anywhere else either.

Before Nuke disappeared he had mentioned he might port the LOZ:TP savegame exploit to the 'Cube. He asked for a few savefiles to base it on, and I was able to send him some from PAL and NTSC/U games.

I recon it'd be great to have a savegame exploit for the 'Cube since then you don't have to purchase/make a legally questionable modchip, or a Datel product. The SSBM v1.2 exploit is only good for NTSC/U consoles (or J if you install a region switch) and requires you hunt down a specific version of the game. I realise few people would have a use for it any more, but is anyone, Nuke or otherwise, willing+able to make it happen?

I was hoping for this too, but unfortunately, I don't believe that it is being worked on anymore.

I'm just curious, but what is the SSBM 1.2 exploit?  I have searched on Google, and can't find anything on it.
