Hi guys.

I have an Argon Modchip and 3.3 firmware. I want to play my backed up games but I can't. All my backed up games work with Wii Menu but they don't work with GeckoOs 1.06d. It says: "Error No DVD". I tried to load with GeckoDVD, but same error. GeckOS works with Original though.

I tried with Wiird too but same error.

Any suggestion?

Is geckoOs susceptible to Trucha?

Thanks

i've heard that geckos doesnt work with some modded wiis, but it may just be a random error. I have an unmodded wii and i have gotten the same error a ton of times. i think it could just be coincidence, but i can't say for sure as i dont have a modchip or game backups

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think it's a random error. I tried about 20 times with different games.

Is there a list of uncompatible modchips? Is Argon unsopported?

i am using gecko with my argon 13-wire fw. 1.8 and it works like a charm.

played a lot of games and booted a lot of em via geckoos. like i already mentioned with no problems.

i am using verbatim dvd-r and write speed 2.4x. all my discs are working. didn?t had any defective discs.

as far as i know verbatim dvd-r are the best discs you can use. maybe you should try an other writer/disc combo.

I tried a lot of combo and I usually use Verbatim, so i'm pretty sure it's not a Dvd problem.

I tried WiiRip too and it doesn't work: Original and backup. I tried GeckoOS 1.06f but nothing new...

I don't know if it's a GeckoOS bug or my argon outdated. I think my argon firmware should be 1.2...

It's like GeckoOS bypasses my modchip...

Any help would be appreciate... Thanks guys..

Maybe GeckoOS doesn't wait for DVD and gives me a "NO DVD ERROR"...

memorris

Can you update your argon.
The latest is 1.8 FIRMWARE.
You will need a INJECTUS PROGRAMMER to do the update.

Nuke

it will only say No DVD Error if the first byte of the Wii DVD image is 0, do you run some auto boot application on your games? as some apps set the first byte to 0 to autoboot (skip menu)

either that or corrupt images.

@memorris: I don't have Injectus. I can't update atm.

@Nuke: What do you mean for autoboot? I just insert my wii backup games and from menu they start but from HBC->GeckoOS they don't... (sry 4 noob question)

All my backups work perfectly without GeckoOS...I checked their first byte: not zero. Maybe my modchip changes the first byte? Is any patch to geckoos that can be applyed? Thx a lot...

GeckoOS can't access through my modchip. :(

PS: I can't rip from geckoos too...

Hey Nuke,

What's the difference between GeckoOS dvd access and Wii Menu access?

I need to know just this....

Nuke

every game has a Game ID, it is the first bytes of the Game on the disc. For example Metroid Prime 3 Game ID is RM3PO1.

What GeckoOS does is check this ID when it starts up booting, so if the first couple of bytes are 0 it will say No DVD, this is because if there wasn't a DVD the variable which holds the GameID would be 0.

It is either your chip or your ISO image is corrupt (or doesn't just have these game ID bytes).

If you have an hex editor you could open it up and you will see this ID right away.

Thank you for your kind reply.

I checked with WinHex my backup images and they all have the correct ID.

I don't know what to do...  Maybe I have to study your GeckoOS source code, or I can simply update my modchip to see if something changes.

Updating the modchip in most cases is a good thing to do. So I'd recommend doing it!

Nuke

The GeckoOS code is ok, it just just doesn't seem like your chip is reading the ID correctly. If you disable the chip and try an original you will see its working ok.

My Wii is modded and it have no problem booting backup games even when using GeckoOS and Ocarina. The difference with a modded Wii and an unmodded Wii is the homebrew channel from http://hbc.hackmii.com/. The difference is that with a modded Wii, it will flip you off, and with and with an unmodded Wii it will use the index finger to point instead and of course the unmodded Wii cannot boot backup. BTW I use YAOSM. I also use Rawdump using a special DVD-ROM drive to bump my game.
