Well, I've backed up my save and whatnot, but say I were to really screw something up, and would need to get that save back.  How would I do it?  I ask because when I looked at the save file on the computer, there were 10 files, as opposed to the one or two that I was expecting.

TL;DR: How do I move the save extractor files to the Wii, and make them work?

EDIT: just to clear things up, I haven't messed anything up... yet.

You use the save installer.

The save extractor doesn't use the same setup as a normal save... instead of one nice fancy data.bin, you get all that crap. To install one... you just leave all of that in the folder it was dumped... run the installer... and you're done.

i wouldn't mess around with it on the computer cuz if you move or delete something it could just end up making your save worst than when you first started 0.o

Thanks, this is what I was looking for; I didn't know it existed though.

Right, I didn't change anything.  I had to back up my card on the computer, because it was acting funny, and I just looked in the WIISAVES/RSBE folder and saw a lot of files.  I was just expecting one file for the save and an image of some sort.  In any event, I need to go fix My Music now.  Turns out I did mess something up.  :)

Technically the stuff is no crap... what the Wii does: it takes all the files from the Wii flash, packs them up, encrypts them and signs them. This way manipulation is not possible. THe Save Extractor has a completely different approach: it just copies the data (admittedly.. SLOW).. the save game extractor therefore has its advantages despite just copying copy-protected files.. one thing is: it allows you to modify files.... in my case: I had Smash Bros Brawl USA.. and I was able to just patch my savegame to a EU savegame.. the practical thing. I have the same friendcode on both US and EU ^^

kinda straight forward:

use the save extractor to extract the savegame on your sd card.. in case of Smash Brothers Brawl US you have a folder called WIISAVE\RSBE then

make a copy of the folder and rename it to WIISAVE\RSBP - now in that new folder open banner.bnr with a hex editor - it contains the string RSBE a few times - it must be replaced with RSBP everywhere. Then use the savegame installer together with smash bros PAL. It will install the modified savegame and it will work!

Should also work for other games..

so you put them in the same folder and install? or do you just install them both? Does this mean we can port game saves?
