why is it called NUS downloader?

"NUS" is actually on N64 cartridges.




NES cartridges are "NES". Super Nintendo cartridges are "SNS". Gamecube discs are "DOL". I guess because of that old code name a long time ago- dolphin. No, not the emulator! and Wii is "RVL" for revolution code name?

So I can't figure out why its called "NUS downloader"  :S  ???

I'm pretty sure it's called NUS downloader, because it downloads from the NUS Servers. Why the servers are called NUS beats me.
