[MA6P] Do these cheats work or not?

Hi there everyone!

I've spent several hours getting this far, now I am hoping for the last piece of advice from you guys to get it working =]
(I am really trying to give as MUCH info as possible)

- 4.2E (Black Wii)
- ModMii (virgin mod option, IOS249 v21)
- IOS58 / HBC 1.0.8
- IOS36 Patch via the tutorial given here (to activate channel loading)
- GeckOS r12 a/o 1.9.... eh the latest!
- Note: everything your basic Wii softmod user wants to work, works.
- Peripheral used: Nintendo Classic Game Controller

I am taking as example (as I actually have 'proof' of things 'going on') Streets of Rage 2 MD [MA6P] (unmodified wad)

- Installed via latest MMM on ios249
- Works regularly on as well via the menu or Gecko.

Result: Red screen, no sound. System thawed. Able to get back to the main menu of Wii

Result: Black screen, no sound. Sheer halt of system. LOCK UP Wii, controller gone. Have to use a power cycle.

So, I reckon the hook would be ok? As there are things happening ;D But what in blazes am I doing wrong here? Wrong hooktype? (should use VI?)
Are the codes faulty? Note: other games do not seem to have the effect of cheats about them at all, for instance Wonderboy Monsterland (MD), Europe version. I..... am affraid I am lost. I have tried scowering youtube and this forum, but "de nada". Can anyone possibly aid me in my quest for knowledge?  ^-^

I also have a few questions, if you would allow me:

    What do those codes mean? (I can't seem to find a solid explaination)

2) Is it perhaps possible to include into the codes, or some way of presenting, a note on what hooktype and/or settings to use for the codes to work?

VBI Hook seems to work. But tell me this, do all games use a different hook? And I have to find out myself?

Sometimes you will have to find out yourself. Myself when i make codes I default with VBI, if that doesn't work i will leave a note which one to use. Most of the time.

It's more that some hooks don't work on some games. The hook determines where(in which function) Gecko OS hooks into the game. I wonder if Gecko OS finally shows if it couldn't patch the hook, last time i checked(1.8.x), it didn't, so you had to blindly guess if it worked. Also sometimes patching a certain hook for a game can cause various issues and you have to use another hook that can be patched for that game.

Short: Every codes author should ALWAYS note which hook he used when he created and tested his codes

That indeed would be nice, although it doesn't take so long to try different hooks. There are a handfull and sadly, most of us don't have all the booting tools in their channels. This makes it a hassle and people get discouraged. It might be a good thing to *carefully suggesting* overhaul the databases online a little, adding this note to all codes.

OR

To start making a "wiki"/database where users can contribute the hook being used. Kinda like:

[Game Name +/-][System name +/-][Region +/-][Hook +/-][Gecko version, perhaps]

I am sorry, but I am now stumped.

Where it worked at my time of posting, now I just get a black screen and a system halt. No changes in hook or cheats. I am utterly confused now =]
