Posting Pictures?

How would you post pictures on these forums, would you need any certain coding to go with the pictures name/location?
I'm a bit confused on this, thanks in advance.

Something like this
[img] Place Image Here [/img]  or
[spoiler] [img]Place Image here [/img] [/spoiler]  Leave the bold out, i done that so i could post it.
Also if you want you could quote someone with images to see how they done it.

example:

[IMG]http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6916/supermariogalaxy2004.jpg[/img] [/spoiler]

I was trying to post this picture: C:\Documents and Settings\Matt\My Documents\My Pictures\HNI_0003.JPG but when I put [IMG] around it nothing happened, just a box with an x. Does that look right to you, tell me if I need to edit that line. Thanks.
