Gecko dotNET Bugs and Requests

wiirdGUI and geckodotNET request an adress searcher.

James0x57

Mine does that too, so did GCNrd. But I think this thread is just for WiiRD (console) and Gecko dotNet (GUI).
You should use Gecko dotNet though; it has many more features and abilities than WiiRDGUI. =)

Wait, you're losing codes?  As you say, losing codes is a deal breaker...Gecko.NET used to lose codes when I first used it in like March, but I thought Link fixed that.

Can you explain the sequence of events that leads to lost codes?  i.e. add a new code, give it a name, select it, etc.  Does it only lose codes that haven't been saved by pressing Save Code List?

I wonder...when a disconnect happens, all of the GUI controls are disabled.  Perhaps this disabling is what causes the codes to get lost?  I also wonder if it's not the crappy USB cable...a ferrite bead might help.

Mathew - thanks for pointing out the vanishing codes bug.  It's been fixed now...I'm sorry you had to go through that frustration.

EDIT: Some background might help explain why there was a bug...when you connect to a game, it will load the codes for the game from the file.  When reconnecting, it would load the codes from the file again.  Unfortunately, it wouldn't prompt you if the codes were modified.  That's fixed, too.  But now, if you're reconnecting to a game that's the same as the game you disconnected from, it will no longer load from the file.  However, if you change games, it will prompt you and then load from the new game's file.

I am a beginner with USB Gecko, but i have a little problem with Gecko dotNet. If i search for a value in a game, and the Gecko dotNet loose the connection after the search, you can connect to the game with the button "reconnect". The button works and the reconnect works too, but all buttons in the Gecko dotNet are disabled except the disconnect button.

dcx2

I think I've seen that happen to me once before.  If you reconnect a second time, all of the buttons will be enabled.  I'll look into it once I have some time.

A good feature would be something like the snapshot feature that wiiRD has, only less annoying. I'd prefer that the button would have to be held to show the snapshot, not just clicked, because in WiiRD i forget that it's a snapshot and think the address isn't changing. Either that or add an easier way to identify if it's the real value or snapshot.

Also it'd be very helpful if you could Poke Ascii values, without having to find a converter online. James's version is great for making codes, but having it done automatically with pokes would be great.

Also i dont know if this will help fix the FST viewer, but the original one with GeckoDotNET was amazing :(

Ehh... also it'd be good if we could get something to upload files to the game like the dump and upload commands for WiiRD (not gui)

Yeah, and if a value is different from the real give it another colour so it is easier to see if a value has changed. =D

hetoan2

Just to add onto that color idea. It'd be best if the colors were done in 8 bit that way you can see the individual change instead of having to find it within the 32 bits

Panda On Smack

I find that if you drag a code (A) in the list above another (B) it overwrites the content of that code with what you moved above it so you end up getting a duplicate of what you moved

So code A dragged above B moves them correctly but Code B ends up having its content replaced with Code A

wiiztec

Yeah I posted about that back on page 11
If there's any code at all that you want to be button activated, or even able to toggle on & off, and I have the game, just PM me and I'll make it happen

dcx2

Panda was explicit about the conditions for creating the bug...wiiztec was a little vague about dragging and dropping.  Even with Panda's explicit instructions for reproduction, it still took me like two hours to figure out what was going wrong, and one line of code to fix.

I know there's also a Text View bug but that bothers me a lot less than screwed up codes.

I dunno what happened to the breakpoint not doing anything. I've been using the program for days and suddenly breakpoint function stopped woking for me since today. Notice in the video I've included when I click Text view, everything disappears. I tried rev80 and I still get the same issue. I'm on Vista though.

I named the video bp,lol.

Thanks  O0

When you click GCT code from the code search box. It will add them but the value will always be 00000000. It's very annoying to have to change it every time I add a code.

What exactly would you like the default value to be; old value, new value, etc?  Do you have any reasoning behind your decision?

QuoteMario galaxy seems to have issues with sending cheats. It sets the game into this weird lag with music still playing.

This is weird, because I've hacked both Galaxies with this app...Do you have Pause While Sending checked?  That should be the only thing that can cause that sort of issue...

Galaxy 1 or 2?  What hook are you using?  What types of codes are you using (04ish codes, or C2ish codes, or F6ish codes?)?  If you have BPNext checked on the About tab, and you press Pause/Next a few times, do you have the same problem?

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you could provide me with dumps of the cheat stream from both apps.  When you "send cheats", the application generates a bunch of bytes and sends them to Gecko OS.  If you do a 16-bit search for "C0DE", you should see three results that are really close to each other very low in memory.  Switch to Memory Viewer at those addresses and you'll see what WiiRDGUI and Gecko.NET have sent to Gecko OS.  You can easily Copy All in Gecko.NET's memory viewer and paste the text here, and to get WiiRDGUI's cheat stream you can Send Cheats from there, then switch to Gecko.NET and Copy All in Memory Viewer again.

Sorry to place that burden on you, but I can't replicate your problem... =(

Have you tried older versions of Gecko.NET?  Also, Text View won't show any registers until a breakpoint has been hit.  Have you tried BPNext and pressing the Pause button?

Mokuro

Alright I just found out what was preventing the breakpoint from functioning. I realized that I had to reset the game each time I want to use breakpoint. So this means that I can only do 1 breakpoint until I reset the game. This really needs to be fixed. ::)
