an awesome homebrew app would be one that has to deal with the updates. whenever a nintendo update comes out, and a workaround is found, all files (like latest wii shop) can be downloaded, or maybe even installed also.

So its ok to install 4.0? see i dont hack, i use HBC to use the Gecko OS and use the game codes I find here to use on the games, I just wanna know if thats ok?

Crystal Jinjo, if you use the Rebooter function of GeckoOS, you should not update.  If I remember correctly, '3.3V2' and higher breaks that feature of GeckoOS.

If you do not use the Rebooter, then I'm guessing that it would be okay to update, as long as you have the Homebrew Channel installed.

i use homebrew channel like an action replay, i get the codes for wii games from this site and put them in a codes folder on my sd and when i go to HBC i use gecko os and then run game and when it loads the game it loads the codes for the game that I saved on the SD card, thats all I use HBC for.

You should be fine, as long as the codes that you are using do not require the Rebooter function of GeckoOS.  I don't recommend doing so, but if you decide to update to 4.0, make sure you have the Homebrew Channel installed.

The MIOS was not updated for this firmware, so I'm guessing that it should still work.

Guys i just updated to 4.0 and i can confirm gamecube action replays still works on 4.0 so if you have the latest version it will work.Guys gecko os and ocarina work fine just tested the ocarina codes and they work fine.

darkadvice

Nice update but I will wait for a manual menu install so I can keep rebooter working, and all the other security I get from having 3.2U firmware. Thanks for all the information from those who have tested this update out.

The MIOS was not updated for this firmware, so I'm guessing that it should still work.
The MIOS was still installed though. Don't think that if you have a cMIOS you will be  safe, because this update gives you MIOSv8.

If you try installing cIOSCORP and the like the menu will give a "The System Files Are Corrupted" message, and then it will "fix" them for you... -.-

Im happy with this update i had the homebrew channel installed before the update gecko os, ocarina work fine and even gamecube action replay still work i am very surprised that the gamecube action replay still works, thought they would have blocked it.

Crystal Jinjo

would it be best to avoid 4.0 for now in case in the future you are able to hack virtual console and wii ware games which may use the reboot function of gecko OS? I presume they are researching ways to hack wii ware and virtual console games

waninkoko released his new Firmware Updater 4.0

DESCRIPTION

"This application allows you to update your console's firmware installing only the
needed applications (IOS, System Menu, channels...).

Thanks to it you can keep some features like Trucha bug that affected first IOS versions."

Any testers here ;)
