savegame installer/extractor v2.0 halp

i'm running homebrew channel and the thing to put both of them on my wii won't show up.  i'm pretty sure i'm setting up my SD card the right way.  http://i54.tinypic.com/2cddeo0.jpg  but i can't find any youtube videos of people doing it.

i do have save data for the games i'm trying to copy.  and i don't know what else i need.

Do you have a "boot.dol" or "boot.elf" inside of the files?  If not, then you should find a DOL or ELF file inside those folders.  Rename them to "boot.dol" or "boot.elf," depending on the type of file that you have.  If you have an ELF and DOL file, then only rename one.  The file structure should look something like this, according to your picture...

SD:\apps\save extractor\boot.elf OR SD:\apps\save extractor\boot.dol
SD:\apps\save installer\boot.elf OR SD:\apps\save installer\boot.dol

oh, i'm only supposed to put one in?  i have both the .elf and .dol and the respective folders.

One program saves the files to your SD card, and one program allows you to put them on the Wii, so you may need both.  When you look in the folders, do you see a "boot.dol" or "boot.elf," or do you see something like "saveinstaller.dol" or "saveinstaller.elf?"  If you see something like "saveinstaller.dol" or "saveinstaller.elf," then you will need to rename them to either "boot.dol" or "boot.elf," or else the Homebrew Channel will not see them.

If you still do not understand, could you please post a picture of what is inside the "save extractor" and "save installer" folders that you have?

OH. yeah, they are named saveinstaller and saveextractor.  so i just rename them all to boot and it'll work?

i just did that and the load things showed up on HBC but it says they aren't valid apps

Try downloading these files instead...

When you download these files, you should see two ZIP files, named "Savegame-Installer_v2.0" and "Savegame-Extractor_v2.0."  Extract both of them.

In the "Savegame-Installer_v2.0" folder, you should see another folder named "Savegame-Installer_v2.0."  Click on it, and then click on "Savegame-Installer_v2.0" once again.  You will then see four files, named "README," "README.es," "save-installer_v2.0.dol," and "save-installer_v2.0.elf."  Try renaming the "save-installer_v2.0.elf" to "boot.elf."  Go back one time, and copy and paste that folder into the "apps" folder on your SD card.

Next, open the "Savegame-Extractor_v2.0" folder, and you will basically see the same four files, except they will be named "Extractor" instead of "Installer."  Try renaming the "save-extractor_v2.0.elf" file to "boot.elf," and place that "Savegame-Extractor_v2.0" folder into the "apps" folder on your SD card.

The file structure for each should look like this...

SD:\apps\Savegame-Extractor_v2.0\README.es
SD:\apps\Savegame-Extractor_v2.0\README
SD:\apps\Savegame-Extractor_v2.0\save-extractor_v2.0.dol
SD:\apps\Savegame-Extractor_v2.0\boot.elf   (renamed save-extractor_v2.0.dol)

so i was only supposed to rename the .elf ones?

Did you rename the .elf files to "boot.elf?"  Did it tell you that they weren't valid applications?

If you renamed the ELF files correctly, and got that same error message, try deleting the "boot.elf" files, and rename the DOL files in those folders to "boot.dol" instead.

Also, what version of the Homebrew Channel do you have?

i did that first and it said that.  and then i changed only the .elf to boot and it didn't work.

and i'm using 1.0.8.

Delete the "boot.elf" files, or rename them to something else.  After that, rename the DOL files to "boot.dol", and try that.

If that doesn't work, post some pictures of the inside of the "Savegame-Extractor_v2.0" and "Savegame-Installer_v2.0" folders that you have in the "apps" folder on your SD card.  This will help me to see what everything looks like.

okay it's working now.

Which program are you currently running?  The Savegame Extractor?

What System Menu are you on?  If it's 3.3v2 or higher, it might be because you don't have ES_Identify, but I don't really know.

i'm using installer, extractor is working just fine
and my start menu is 4.2U but HBC won't work without any other version.  what's ES_identify?
