I'm a Newbie to Hacking; A Few Simple Questions

1) How simple is it? I just want some cheats (invincibility for MADWORLD for example)?
2) I've read that the Gecko is discontinued>
3) Why the hell won't Datel release an Action Replay for Wii (and if it's Nintendo's problem, then what the hell Nintendo)?

2) Nobody makes the USB Gecko anymore.  But you only need the USB Gecko to write cheats.  To simply use cheats, run Gecko OS and put a gct file with the right name in the right folder.
3) An action replay is more trouble than it's worth, especially when you have Gecko OS and the code database, which are both free.

By "it" I mean hacking. My Madworld's NTSC, but something tells me it's not as simple as an AR. I know basically NOTHING about hacking  :D
But it seems using cheats is pretty simple :)

Hacking is not easy.  You need to know a lot about computers to hack.  Some hacks are not too hard.  Other hacks are very hard.  It takes a lot of time and practice to be good at hacking.

Using cheats is very easy, especially since the advent of AccioHacks.  Easier than AR.

well fine then.. beat me to posting the comment.. lol...

if you are wanting to cheat (like dcx2 said) its VERY simple.. if you are wanting to custom write codes.. it honestly depends on the level of the code.. if you want to make infinite health/bullets and junk like that.. its generally easy to locate and figure out.. however if you want to use guns/levels/characters and stuff you are not supposed to EVER have normally in the game.. that requires learning ASM which can be fairly complicated depending on the hack.. moon jump is kinda one of those "intermediate" hacks. for *most* games.. a game that has jump function.. its relatively easy.. a game that doesnt have a jump function and you want to make a jump function.. it can vary on how the 3 different axis are read....


basically.. cheating->easy not hard. long as the hacks are released and people are willing to give them out (dont count on it always)

hacking->varies.. a LOT if you put a lot of time into it.. it does get easier.. however it is never simple.. some hacks can take a short 30 mins.. others can take several weeks.. or a month with multiple people working on the same hack together.. sharing resources etc..

Damn, that Accio hacks seems REALLY simple. And it won't screw up my Wii?

some hacks effects (like cod mwr mega unlocker) affect the save file.. in as much that they unlock all the weapons/classes/etc. and theres no way to really remove it unless you delete the data.. but short answer:

if you stick with just homebrew and geckoOS and dont mod any iso's yourself.. you are good and cant screw anything up regarding your wii.

if you start to mod the wii with other mods and play around with the iso's.. yes.. its very easy to get yourself into trouble if you dont know what you are supposed to be doing... stay on a logical path.. back up the wii lots.. follow trustworthy guides.. and you should be good :P

on the hacking note.. eh.. some of them are really really easy :P but its tons of fun.. spend some time doing it, and you will get good at it and it wont be near as hard.

How much are you wanting to store on it? (really any 2 gig would work just fine) just make sure its either sdhc or that size :P

Not too much; I use my internal memory for the games and only want the SD card for Accio Hacks.

2 gigs then lol its more than you will probably ever use.. and give you room to expand.. a LOT bestbuy.. walmart., really any 2 gig SD card will work (long as it fits the wii obviously)

deathwolf.. i have an sdhc.. and it works... :\ and unless you want to install LOTS of homebrew apps 2 gigs is LOADS! i have stuff stashed on my card like crazy.. still a ton of room left
