Hello!
Please help me before I throw this @#$%$@# computer out the window!! I just got the USB Gecko for my son. I am operating on Windows Vista and when I insert the disk the screen captions are not the same as what I actually see on screen. The computer recognized that there was new hardware and I selected the option of 'Install new Driver Device Hardware" (or something to that affect) it installed the hardware and that was it...no further instructions... I thoght that may have been all we needed to do..so we tried to download the SSBB codes and nothing happened ...
SOMEONE please HELP a clueless mom!!
I would be very grateful!!

Thanks in advance :D

You dont need a USB gecko to use codes by the way.
Are you using WiiRD to upload the codes?

heidi

You dont?? What the heck is this thing for?? And yes we were trying to download from Wiird..btw igglyboo my son wants to type you a message.....

hi igglyboo this is heidi's son i just wanted to say that i subscribed to you on youtube(if you are igglyboo which i think you are) and i love the trippy colors hack.

THANK YOU FOR YOU HELP!

Igglyboo

hehe, its good to see that people like my work

The usb gecko connects to your wii and acts as a remote debugger for making codes and debugging apps etc.
It can be used for codes but is not required, to use codes alone all you need is a copy of gecko os(runs from the homebrew channel) and the codemanager app.
What you do is, open a text file of the codes with code manager and select the codes you want. Then hit export and make sure your sd card is in your computer. It will put the .gct file(codes) on the sd card.
Then just run gecko os from the homebrew channel and it should apply the codes.

You need to install the Homebrew channel to use cheats and or usbgecko if I'm not mistaking....

Igglyboo

Oh yea you do have the homebrew channel installed right?

heidi

DOHHH!!!
so im guessing we need to install said homebrew channel? You have been so helpful...would you tell us how to install the eleusive homebrew channel?
thanks again!

Igglyboo

First off you need a copy of Twilight princess, an SD card, and an SD card reader(something you put the sd card in).
Oh and what is the version of your wii?
Tell me if you have these and then ill go on.

heidi

thank you so much..
ok yes we have a copy of Twilight Princess, yes we have an sd card and i can put the card right into the computer. As far as the version of Wii..???...after the serial # on the bottom of the Wii there is a 3 in a box..does this mean version 3?

Igglyboo

No im talking about the firmware version, go to you Wii's options and click wii settings, in the top right should be the version of you wii
For example my wii says, 3.3U.

Oh and before we start you should back up anything on that SD card because it will need to be formatted.

heidi

thanks iggly..i just read your profile..are you really only 16?!!??? You certainly know your stuff!! I will go check the wii version now...and im guessing to back up our sd card (my sons SSBB data is on it) I put it in the computer and create a file for it?
again I cant thank you enough for all your help :)

Igglyboo

Yea, basically just drag and drop the stuff off of the SD card.

heidi

ok we have the same version as you..now i just inserted the sd card...i have 2 options..open folder to view files and speed up my system...so i click open folder to view files and i get..private,i click on private & i get Wii, i click on wii and i get 2 folders app & title.... are these the two i drag and drop...if i loose his SSBB data he will NOT be happy.

Igglyboo

just drag and drop the ENTIRE private folder onto your computer
