I have a Wii from US I brought with me. I'm in Korea now and picked up the Korean version of Wii Play, mostly for an extra controller.

I just recently went through the HBC installation and things appear to load ok, until I actually try to run an app or a game. I couldn't get my Korean Wii Play to run, but I also can't seem to run the bundled software from HBC. Everything starts up and loads through the 0-100% bar very quickly, but I lose control as soon as app menus load up (HBC Tetris and Wii64 freeze at menu screen) I have spent a few hours googling how to run the programs but all I come up with are take out your gamecube cards and reformat your sd card. If someone could help me I would be happy to be a source for Korean game support testing.

well, the included test applications are mostly only contrallable with Gamecube controllers.. the HBC was one of the first applications to be able to use the Wii Remote.. you can however try Gecko OS from this page (install it into your HBC apps folder). It is controllable using a Wii Remote and might also play Wii Play Korea - though it's is not sure for Korean games they might be encrypted differently!

Nuke

Korean games can never play on any thing other than Korean Wii.

picture it like this

Korean Games are encrypted with a special key called (key2)
USA,PAL, JAP games are encrypted with a special key called (key1)

now Korean Wii has hardware to decrypt (Key2) and also (key1 with a modchip)

USA,JAP,PAL Wii has only the hardware to decrypt (Key1) games.

So the hardware itself can never decrypt them, so it will always fail.

Oof, well I still just paid as much for wii play and the controller as I would've for a controller alone anyway, so it's not really even a loss for me. I was suspecting it may have been something like that as pirating is pretty rampant here, I don't think anyone who bought a DS here DOESN'T have an R4 (whenever I'm on the subway I can see those microSD cards in there!)

Still, I was half-hopeful as when I loaded up Gecko OS I saw the Korean option, but I guess that was meant for the other way around now.

Thanks for the quick replies!
