i figured that if C was used for running and A was used to knife, this code could be much better in general. to me, it makes more sense that way.
is there any way to do this?

I just found where the game checks for a certain button (using breakpoints), and changed the button it checks for to a different button.
I'm having a major issue, I used codes to screw around in Merc Mode and started a new game. However, now my Wii refuses to boot up RE4. I also have a request if anyone can make an "unlock all memos" code, what i mean is when you are on the item menu at the top there is "Files" which has a list of all the memos you have gotten in the game from the village, castle and island. The memos are a one time only thing so if you miss one you cant get it anymore, so if anyone can make this code I would really appreciate it, it should not be hard or take long to make either since it should not be a pointer code.
Sorry, im new here and am not entirely sure where everything is supposed to go. Has anyone thought to create codes that would allow you the be, say, ashley in career mode? Or how about wesker, or krauser? You can play as all of them at some point of the game, so they would all have to have some sortof controls programmed in. If this isn't possible, then thats fine, just thought i would make a suggetion.

I was wondering if anyone could make a cheat where the crosshair with the wii pointer controls can be removed and replaced with the regular laser sight for aiming. I know I could always just use the old gamecube controller and get the laser, but it's fun using the remote.

it allows u to use wesker in story mode, but freezes when u enter the village for the first time due to hunnigans transmission. i was also going to ask for a krauser code (which would be easy due to being able to work off this code) but it doesnt seem like a long term code in terms of using it in actual story mode since it would always freeze.
so instead i would jus like to ask how to add the bow and arrow to ur inventory?? im sure leon would be able to use it, but all i need is a code for the PAL version to put a bow and arrow into the inventory. thanks a lot :)
Hmm, I always thought the transmissions were just cutscenes, but i guess this shows they aren't o.0. Why else would they freeze? Probably because it doesn't know how to move the character in that way or something(though, i could very likely be wrong). There must be someway to bypass this. Perhaps a "no communications" code, that would prevent transmissions, therefore stopping these glitches from happening. Then you could peacefully go through the game as another character.(surely there is something you can change in order to prevent cutscenes!). Anyways, if someone figues this out, please post a way for NTSC as well, much appreciated.

the hunnigan transmissions definitely aren't transmissions. you can tell what is a cutscene and what isnt by going through the game as mafia leon and knight ashley. all the scenes that shows them wearing originnal clothes ARE cutscenes, the ones that shows them with mafia/knight clothes AREN'T cut scenes.
p.s. the PAL code to use Krauser in story mode has also been found (turn the 4 at the end of the code to a 5). the transmissions still freeze though....

Well I tried going by offsets between codes that were made for both PAL and NTSC that didn't work
I tried searching for the enemy health value but I don't know if theirs a seperate value for each enemy on screen or for each type of enemy in the game or what and regular enemies are too weak to survive untill I can narrow down the search and boss health might be a seperate value
So yeah I haven't made much progress so far

Not quite a code porting. After blowing myself up and watching my health (address courtesy of schmake's Leon code) to see where the "hurt stuff" code is, and I managed to find it. The whole function spans from 8009FAFC to 800A0034, and there are probably plenty of other goodies that can be done around here, but this will have to do for now. Let me know if it works for you or if anything weird happens.

The game checks to see if the damage being done is greater than the enemies' health and, if it is, it sets it to the enemies' health so that it won't end up going negative during the subtraction.

Noping the bge was like commenting out just the if and leaving the assignment. Now, damage always = current health, so every head shot will always cause an explosion. I believe the branch of code I hacked only alters the health of enemy pointers and not Leon.
- There are all kinds of other possibilities. Damage multipliers might serve the desired purpose; if anyone else wants to give their hand at it, the damage to be done is usually stored in r30.
- This function may be where the game decides if an enemy should stumble, fall over, etc. Perhaps we could find what makes Leon get knocked over and turn it off?
EDIT: Okay, I couldn't help myself. If you want I could also do a 1/8 and a 1/16 damage to enemies code but that might be excessive?
Note that the insta-kill code above is also part of the damage codes below. Also, the deal one damage code is unrealistic unless you have infinite ammo, as even the weakest enemies have at least 300 HP. But it is kinda fun to empty the TMP into someone...

Im not a wiz at math but would 1/16 damage make them die faster then 1 damage? because 25% they die a little quicker then i want them to. Ahh I noticed for som reason the boxes take like 18 slices to knife and sumtimes a while to shoot to get open why is that is it because of the code?
Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember noticing that boxes have HP. I figured it was 1 HP but it might not be...I'll look into it and see if I can make another code that gives boxes 1 HP or something.
It sounds about right, though. If you are doing 1/16 of the damage, you would need to hit it 16 times to get the same effect. If you want to know for sure right away, try the 1/8 or 1/4 code and see how hard it is to open boxes.
A code for boxes barrels and crates with 1 Hp would be perfect if it can be done that would be great and it wouldnt be a pain on a new run to knife boxes 18 times lol. I thought boxes were 1 hp at default you would think.
It turns out that boxes/barrels have 1000 HP - more than many monsters! But the game can tell when you hit a box and even a knife attack does 1000 in that case. So I traced through and I think I made a branch of code that only gets executed when we hurt enemies. I haven't had a chance to test with a big boss monster like Salazar, but I know it worked on small boss monsters like the chainsaw guy.
As a bonus, I've made the code more flexible by using divide/multiply instructions, so we can use any number now instead of 2/4/8/16.

I'd just like a code that allows to play as HUNK, Wesker, Ada or Krauser in the main game. I should think it to be possible, but then again if I understood a zilch of coding I'd try it myself.

Some people had tried to make a character change code, but it's very unstable. I think it crashes whenever you open the inventory, map, and probably a lot of other situations. I believe the last hypothesis was that the game is missing models for the other characters holding weapons that they can't ever get (i.e. Hunk with anything other than a TMP, etc).
They posted their code in the testing area (http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,4724.0.html) but I think you need a USB Gecko so that you can turn the code on after the game loads. It might be possible to stabilize the code, but it will probably be very, very tricky.
So, yeah, that'd be cool, it's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Well, I have Gecko OS, but not USB Geck OS. Guess I can't test it then.
I wonder why Capcom just didn't put that option in the game to begin with? I mean, I'd take that option over the mercenary minigame, even if it had no cutscenes nor anything. I'd be like Devil May Cry 3.

Would a code to allow all guns to be purchased at the merchant, including those not normally available in the mode in question(including Krauser's bow from Mercenaries Mode?) be possible? If not, at least a code to insert them into the inventory?

I don't know how different the Cube & Wii versions are, but the Cube version had a code like that. Someone (don't remember who) made it for the Action Replay. Basically it turned off the hit detection and was pretty cool. None of the charcters could get hurt from anything, Ashley couldn't be grabbed, and it bypassed the QTEs. I think I still have the code somewhere if that can help.
I found some kinda hit detection code, but I couldn't get it to affect only Ashley. Hook me up with the AR code...it might help.

I made a Capacity hack, every gun has 255. I also made a one-shot-kill code, which is basically a Power hack. With the capacity hack, a reload hack doesn't seem useful. I suppose I could look at speed?

Yeah, I just want to see if their values can be changed, just so I can mess around with them. If anything, the speed value would probably make the pistols and magnums basically fully auto. A rapidfire code would be good.
Hm...a rapid fire button activator might be nice. You don't want to shoot too fast, or you start missing enemies because they're dead while you're still shooting.

Looks like someone beat you to it. 844 first aid sprays and treasure not very likely, doesn't look like it has grenades or eggs and little things like that. Although I don't see the 844 code posted on the web so you can still be technically the first with the code.
This code is a little dirty, but it will give you tons of items. I'm trying to make something cleaner, but I don't want it to start making your inventory explode with items.

Anybody ever figure out if it is possible to make the badguys in Mercenaries spawn more frequently? The only bad thing about Mercenaries was that there'd be stretches where there'd be no badguys at all to kill. With a time freeze code and an unlimited number of bad guys to kill would certainly make for some serious fun. I'd really like to no how long I could last.

The code I gave you was the wrong one. That one only makes the player invincible, not Ashley. I can no longer find that code, but looking on the internet, there seems to be a separate code for Ashley. Found it on arcentral.net, but I haven't tried it yet though.

I'll look into it, tsuas. I sortof had a code that made Ashley invincible...except if she got hit with an explosion. Then she'd just lay on the ground and the camera would be off-axis. To fix it, you had to pull out the sniper rifle and shoot her; this would make her stumble and the camera would fix itself when you were out of sniper mode.

@Andmo25, you should keep the 127 item code on when you use the "dirty" code I gave you. Otherwise it will use the "normal" max (i.e. 1 egg, 1 first aid spray).

It works great with every thing except mixed herbs and treasure or I haven't found a way for it to work. For people that don't know about what dcx2 meant by I hope to have a code that will make an item maxed out when you pick it up heres what that means. When you get one item it seems to bring it to its standard max (handgun ammo is 50) but once you get a second one it makes the first one go to 127 while the new one is its max (in this case handgun ammo 50 again.) I can't tell if it works with first aid spray as I can't equip it but I got two, both with this code, used them and both disappeared. It doesn't display the eggs but trust me they're there. I'm sure you knew this but just incase you didn't. I haven't seen it conflict with any other codes. Great code can't wait for it to be polished a little.

lol, yeah, it's dirtier than I thought.
The problem with maxing out each time you pick up an item is that you'll quickly run out of inventory space by accidentally picking up items.
What I am working toward is a button activated code. Go into your inventory, highlight the item you want to max out, and maybe press the 1 key to max that item out. This way, you can continue to collect items without overflowing the inventory, and you can on-demand create a bunch of items where you had only one before.
The reason I chose 127 is because I wasn't sure whether the item count was a signed or unsigned 8-bit value. I chose 127 to be safe. I suppose I could try larger values...
And no, I have no idea how long it takes to talk to the merchant...but if he's affected by speed-down, I can imagine. (now that I think about it, Ashley might be affected, too...) But I will make the speed-down code button activated too. Can you think of a good combination? c+z+a to toggle?
C+Z+A sounds good. Yesterday when playing with the 1/8th speed code I noticed that Ashley was effected (her movements) but she was always right behind me like usual when I went to another room she was back to normal. Besides that I have never seen that happen before and I've played with that code for a while.
I'll test to see what happens after getting 127 for you if you want. I don't know much about making codes except there written in hex I'm sure I could make the limit higher.
Ok while I tested it and I was able to get to 999 max after that it displays 0 (same result with the infinite ammo code.

While I was able to get all guns tested to 999 (mine thrower, punisher, hand cannon, rifle, TMP, etc.) so did another guy on the web http://wiisave.com/index.php?dlid=3243 (yes I browse that website often)
So I was playing with the code a little more and got 2998 Black Bass Large, 3997 Black Bass, 1 Golden Chicken Egg, 1998 Brown Chicken Eggs, 1998 Chicken Eggs, 998 Red Herbs, 999 Yellow Herbs, 999 Green Herbs, 2997 Incendiary Grenades, 1998 Flash Grenades, and 3996 Hand Grenades. I see what you mean by crowded.

Most invincibility codes are exactly like that one. As far back as the NES, and as recent as Super Mario Galaxy 2, there are invincibility timers after getting hit.
One trick I use to find them is to pause, then use Gecko.NET's Slow checkbox to set the FPS to about 2-5 so I can get close to getting hit without taking forever, and then uncheck Slow so it goes back to paused. Step through with the Next Frame button. After you're into the invincibility frames, you can do an unknown search, then next frame, then diff-by-1 search, next frame, diff-by-1...the timer should be obvious after three or four cycles.
Also, it helps to figure out how long the invincibility window is before-hand. You can use that to put some upper bounds on the results, so that your first unknown search is actually a less-than. So, if you're invincible for like two seconds, then search for less than (60 frames/sec * 6 seconds; give yourself some breathing room) = 360...you should probably also include a search condition that's not equal to 0, to cut out a bunch of results.
As far as the walk through walls code...I'll have to follow a breakpoint and see how that works. I know what you mean by which search results are junk...like certain values, certain memory ranges, etc.

This button activator only works in the inventory screen. Press 1 and 2 and you'll get 999 of every item in the inventory. Everything except the ammo in guns, scopes, stocks, etc.
It turns out that item counts are actually 16-bit values, so their max is at least 32,000. However, the game only displays the hundreds/tens/ones digits. The other digits are still there, they just aren't displayed. So you can set the max items to 7FFF (or maybe even FFFF!) if you don't mind not knowing how many items you actually have.
For the 7FFF would I need to edit the inventory code, the 127 max code or both? ???
When you pick up items, or move items in the inventory, or things of that nature, the game goes through a table and determines how many you are allowed to stack of that item. The "127 (max)" code over-rides the table and says that if it's less than 127 = 0x7F, make it 127.
The inventory code sortof "cheats"; it doesn't look up the table. That's why it can give you 999 = 0x3E7, when the max item code was 127. However, in practice, the (max) code should be the same value as the inventory code. If the inventory code is bigger, some weird things might happen when you pick up items or try to stack other items etc.
I think I may have found out how to make infinite grenades, like infinite ammo. But every healing item is a different instruction to patch. =(

Now you can make the merchant go faster, and then switch the enemies back to slower. Or if you want more challenge, make the enemies faster too....
It's working great I maxed out a flash grenade and tried to sell it but it can only display 4999 at a time and I edited the code to 64999 items so every time I tried to sell all of them there was just more it was kinda funny. I'll try that speed code see how it works out for me. By the way thanks for your hard work.

I will eventually post them to geckocodes. Your feedback is valuable though ...it takes time to write hacks and sometimes I can't test them as much as I would like. For instance I didn't notice the merchant problem. Your tests with the item maxes is helpful too. ^_^
The 1/8th speed code conflicts with C+Z+Down to kill your self, maybe move it to right and left on the d pad?

Nope, you absolutely can't do that. ASM instructions only have 16-bit operands, so you only get 4 letters, i.e. FFFF

and when holding z and shooting I got the gun to go rapid fire. I was using the tmp so I wasn't so sure but then I switched to the handcannon and it was definitely going 2x. I don't think your looking for it anymore. Just incase you were having trouble looking for the rapid fire code, might help.

Hey, you're pretty good at working with code types.
Yeah, the 2x thing can be kind of glitchy. In fact the whole speed mod thing in general can be kinda glitchy...it took me a while because I needed to find a way to stop modifying their speed when they died, or their bodies would hang around like ghosts.
I would still like to find some way of slowing only enemies, but not the merchant. You said there were others that are affected? Sometimes Ashley? And...doors, was it?
After you kill them there bodies go back to were they were just before you killed them (standing) and then they disintegrate (still sanding.) And actually if I go to talk to the merchant when I know the 1/8th combo is on he doesn't seem to be affected unless you press the 1/8th combo when he's opening his jacket.
Other than that Ashely was affected only one time but that was just her movements (her steps and ducking) but she always was right behind me when I was running or standing behind me when shooting, but that was just one time. Pushing items like statues and book cases were slowed down but thats all that was effected.
Oh, cool, so you can push statues 2x faster with the code now?
I just started a new game and I haven't gotten to a solid one yet (I shoot the wooden ones) but in theory I should be able to I'll reply when I get to one. It would be cool though some take forever even without the 1/8th code.

lol, yes, be careful about that. I know the Stryker glitch would mess you up on ladders and when turning around. There are probably values that I could modify in the game that make it more graceful...
So I have two versions of the 2x speed code. One at 1x activated with Z. A second one at 8x activated with A+B+Down. Its a little buggy but it works.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to go overboard and allow you to get 0x7FFF of every item/treasure. If it can't display all the digits...who cares? That makes it feel infinite, right? ^_^

I'll also add the speed code toggle to replace the current speed code. I might even make a "speed roller" that allows you to make fine-tuned changes to the speed...cz left to go slower, cz right to go faster, cz up to go normal. Then you could "scroll" through 0.125x, 0.25x, 0.5x, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8.
Why not FDE7 it would display 999 still and make it a little cleaner looking in the inventory.
You stopped looking for the rapid fire huh? While it would have been cool I use the Handcannon to replace the Chicago Typewriter, it even goes faster than the Chicago Typewriter.

Re: rapid fire...there are only so many hours in the day. Got a real job, got Gecko.NET to develop, gotta patrol the forum, and every now and then the gf wants some attention too...lol. That's why it's taken me so long to put this code up. Sooner or later I may get around to looking for a rapid-fire code.
I didn't mean the rapid fire as a request or anything like that, when I said "while" I meant that's a shame, but like I said I got the Handcannon to go faster than the Chicago Typewriter with the run 2x code and that if you choose to get a rapid fire it wouldn't be to hard. Again the rapid fire is not a request.
The max items and item genie codes are now in the database. I plan on working on a speed roller so you can switch speeds easily while in-game.

BTW, you might notice it's not 0xFDE7. That's because this value is negative, and unless the game already considers the value to be unsigned, it could cause problems. I noticed that when I picked up ammo, I would get 999 of it, even if I didn't have any to start with. When I made it 0x7CFF instead, it will be positive no matter how it's looked at. Ammo was picked up correctly, etc.
I vaguely remember that an older version of the code was also giving us issues with the number of Spinels that you had. But I couldn't replicate that issue this time... =( But it doesn't matter now, because 31,999 is probably more Spinels than you'll ever collect. We're on like round 9 and we're still in the low hundreds.
Finally back online ok so the infinite ammo code I tested with every weapon except the special rocket launcher. Like you said on works on every guns. I tested the guns with or without the scope all worked except the single fire rocket launcher, my guess is the special won't work either. Eggs and grenades didn't work.
But why did you create an infinite ammo code if there is already one?
lol, that's probably why I never released it. I likely found it "for free" while looking for 255 ammo per gun.
The existing infinite ammo code will force you to have 99 ammo, and reloading won't affect it. The one I wrote prevents you from losing ammo, but lets you gain it when you reload. They're basically at the same address, but they take different approaches.
Not saying it's not good I think it's actually a little better than the 99 one, but I like the other one because I like it giving me 99.
Releasing it wouldn't be good though with the other one already out.
I know you said not to go past 4 letters but I did anyway and the only problem was that it displayed a weird number that wasn't even in the value ie I set it to 999999 and it showed something like 543 I don't remember.

So yes, the 2000 in 718C2000 is the Z button activator. This does not use the Ditman glitch (that's where you switch guns from Stryker after starting aiming?). There is a value in memory that holds Leon's speed; when you press Z, it writes 2.0 to that address, and when you don't press Z, it writes 1.0 to the address. It's always writing something, 2 or 1, depending on the state of Z.
Using a 28-type button activator with C2 codes is calling for mega trouble. C2 codes over-write the target instruction with a branch; when you "turn the C2 code off", the branch is still there. So nothing changes.
Changing the 718C2000 to 718C2800 should make it so you need Z and A to run 2x.

Thats how you activate ditman, then when you hold Z you will do things 2x faster (shooting, running...), so I assumed that code was to activate ditman.

cmpwi is usually used to enforce multiple buttons. But cmpwi will fail if you press more than just buttons specified.

Actually, that code seems to speed up actually too, but for some reason the distance gap between Ashley and Leon also increases. If you run then turn back while holding Z you will notice Ashley running faster.

EDIT: For removing the requirement, thats actually one of the glitches that I found out, doesn't work everywhere. You know that disc 2 part where there is a locked room with Ashley inside? If you walk through the walls and enter that room, you will skip to the next chapter, if you don't reload your save Ashley will still be asking for leon's help and you will be able to go to the next room without the requirement. If you reload your save Ashley will be stuck and I don't think you will be able to continue your game.
That glitch let you skip the process of having to get the key to open the door and having to get ashley to the next room, which can be a little annoying as there are enemies on the way.
Can someone port the "Activate Bullet Time" code from the GCN version, and if anyone got this glitch when fighting Salazar I will know I'm not alone on this, after shooting the eye, the clam-like shell is supposed to open, but it doesn't open. :confused:

These both are ntsc-J and work in the ntsc-U the second code makes chickens into the merchant but he only sells Attache case XL

It seems you cannot use krauser's bow because i can't add the bow and arrows at the same time the same goes for ada and her bowgun if someone could edit the code to spawn it in the case or the case where you discard an item then everything should be fine

To use krasuer's bow in story mode first use the code to have the bow then equip it then equip any other weapon because krasuer only has values to use his bow anything else will make him do a T-Shaped Stance but his bow will still work like normal the any other weapon
can be anything but i recommend using something infinite like maxed handcannon infinite launcher or Chicago typewriter also works
for ada if you want to use her bowgun in mercenaries.
I went through the nothing values and found out they were key Items these go straight to your key item slot when the code is
activated this can be used to skip bothersome parts to use more than one at a time use multiple button activators

Has anyone figured out how to use Krauser's Bow/Arrows while in Story mode while being able to play as Leon? What about the other Merc-Only weapons? Like the Custom TMP, Silenced Handguns, Ada's Bow/Shotgun? I could have sworn that this was hacked to work in the GC version & assumed it would be converted/fixed in the Wii one by now. Sorry for the ignorance but i'm tearing my hair out about this one. I want to use some of those other weapons in story mode so effin bad! Thanks for any help. *sigh*
