I own a NTSU wii console
Wii System Menu 3.3U
No Modchip
No Starfall
Game in Specific: NTSU SSBB ( yeah I know, kinda obvious.)

On May 16 I decided to try the Bannerbomb method of obtaining Homebrew which completed with absolutely no problem, I used the Hackmii installer to do so installing Bootmii, DVDX, and Homebrew Channel. Directly after I completed the Hackmii installation I made sure to make a recovery file in Bootmii before I went through with any other installations. After doing so I went about on Wiibrew.org downloading a some applications for use in HBC I had to place them on SD card myself since I currently have no wireless connection. The programs I first obtained were Gecko OS, Homebrew Browser(for when I finally get another router) and Cheatmanager. I'm a competitive Brawl player(I'm sure you probably guessed it was this game lol) and the first thing I wanted to do was start playing Brawl+(Go to this link if you're not sure what Brawl+ is: http://allisbrawl.com/forum/topic.aspx?id=58272 ). I was able to boot the game and apply the codes no problem. A couple days later I decided to start playing some VC games but as I had a 3.3U menu I had to use a special version of the wadmanager program designed to work specifically with IOS16. I used the program to install ios16-64-v257-prod.wad and I installed a couple VC games. A few days later I noticed that I had to eject and reinsert brawl about 2 times or so for the wii to detect it I shrugged it off as just a tiny prob. But later I had to keep pressing "Load Game" on the Gecko OS menu before it would actually load the game. The next day it simply did not detect brawl at all and on the wii menu the number of tries I had to make seem to very gradually increase( I also noticed that the system made alot more noise whenever it finally read the disc). Also when I try loading brawl on wii disk channel after taking a short moment to read the disk a black screen will appear telling me:

Error #002
An error has occurred.
Press the Eject Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn off the Power the console.
Please read the Wii Operations manual fir further instructions.

When the problem completely extended to the wii disc channel also I tried restoring the wii with Bootmii's Recovermii feature to remove any changes I may have made that caused this problem but it seemed to have no effect. Now the wii disc channel does not read brawl at all *THOUGH when I tried GCN games and Wii Sports both Gecko OS and Wii disk channel detected those with absolutely no problem. Can anyone propose a possible solution to me?, I'm pretty calm about this problem and if this unfixable feel free to tell me with no worry. I came to these forums since you guys seem pretty good at problems and Gecko OS was the first application I first discovered the problem with. oh and sorry for the wall of text D: just wanted to make sure I gave as much info and researched on this problem.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, I'm regurgitating things I have heard months ago...

but I believe your disc reader on your wii is wearing out. I heard from somewhere that brawl was a dual layered, basically its a different type of disc then some of your other games. So you wii has no problem reading less complex discs because your disc reader is still up to par, however, little more complex discs like dual layered discs will pose a problem for your wii.

Its sort of the same problem as my playstation 2, as it got older, it still read games just fine, however, the games/discs with purple underside had many problems. I am not a disc or driver specialist, so I am just making educated guesses but its the only guess you got so far so hope this helps ^_^

Is there no absolute way to fix this short of sending it in to nintendo?, If what you're saying is right then I won't be able to play SSBB or any future Dual layered DVDs. D:

I thank you very much for posting what may be my wii's problem. It makes sense as Brawl is the only other game I own besides wii sports(which I never play) and I rarely take brawl out of the wii so the reader may have gotten worn from the constant reads of the game whenever I play and such. This is kinda too bad since I play Brawl and Brawl+ competitively, but I can atleast still play on it. Can I get a second opinion from anyone else though?

I dont know, but I thought a broken dvd-drive would say: Disc Read Error.

Did you try the latest version of Gecko ?

2link121

Yes, I made sure to get it from this forum specifically the night after I used Bannerbomb. I also tried 1.8 by some wierd offchance of it working, which expectedly didn't.

When I tried to load my links crossbow training game I get the:

"An error has occurred please restart...."

When I checked out my disk, it appears only a little piece of information was being hard to read on the disc, the disc was still capable of being read though by other programs I have. Maybe his brawl disc is damaged a tiny bit but because of that little tiny damage, the wii refuses to play it?

I'll look more into this ^_^

I don't really think it's the disk. I checked the surface many times and it's flawless. I've also made sure to clean it to see if that would've helped. I'm very careful with my thing so I doubt if its the disk causing the problem D:

Hi,
I helped someone that had this exact problem with MK Wii. First it started you had to reload it a few times like you said, then it gave the error message every load. All his other games, including Brawl worked flawlessly.

We decided that it was a problem with the MK Wii game disc, and checked it for scratches. It had none and looked flawless.
He then decided to go to the store and get a new MK Wii disc, which then worked fine, and had no problems since.

Another thing, are your second/third/fourth player Wii controllers acting up when trying to connect? This seemed to be another side effect to him, but they started working again a little after he got the new disc.
Very strange problem...

Anyway hope I helped. Maybe we can play some competitive Brawl/+ together sometime. :)

I don't own more than one wiimote. And I'd rather just buy a 8gb usb drive and play Brawl off of it rather than shell out another 50$ D:. I'm beggining to think it's just that my wii's disk reader is worn as suggested earlier, but I wanted to see if I could remedy this before having to go buy a usb, dl brawl and wiiscrub it.

I think this can be fixed now though, that was with someone awhile ago.

It seems that it might be the ios16 wad you installed. Apparently you'll need to reinstall some official wads.

Would it be too much to ask which in specific?, I can find them no problem but I'm not sure on which I may need to reinstall.
