newbie question

when I put in my geckos iso disk into my wii it launches, I see the game cube in the top left corner of the wii menu, I can click on it but once I click start button my controller turns off and I can`t access the launchgame file.

please help very newwwbie

You are booting into GameCube mode, which means that the Wii Remote will not work.  In GameCube mode, you will need a GameCube controller.
