Turns out you can reassemble most of a Wii U, including the top cover, while keeping the bottom RFI shield and cover off.
The result is solid, yet wide open for hardware hacking. Almost all of the testpoints are exposed.

Needs more software hacking. I most likely won´t risk breaking my USB Gecko or Wii U while doing this.

According to http://fail0verflow.com/blog/2013/espresso.html it would seem that homebrew may never make it to the Wii U (not vWii).  Looks like hacking Wii U games may never be realized.  :(

If I remember correctly, the famous coder/hacker "Crediar" is already working on the Wii U (vWii at the moment).
