before everyone posts on here saying that E3 was a failure, remember that E3 is for investors, not you. Nintendo has changed the course of gaming with the wii, for better or worse, it's different from what it used to be and although you might see this as "disappointing" or "casual", what the companies are trying to do is market their games to people who will buy them. Nintendo opened up a huge casual market and this is why they are showing this to investors, because the investors want to see the success that the wii had again in the future because it means money for them. They are businesses and you have to remember that. We are no longer the majority, and you have to accept that as a fact.

I love the situational dialogue in it, I think The Last of Us was the highlight of Sony's conference.

WiiU will never be as successful as the Wii. The outsider market exists, not just because Nintendo marketed to it, but mostly because those outsiders heard shittons of word-of-mouth (initially, the most influential word was from the core gamers (this is vital)). This new market is content with the Wii though! To buy another system (let alone a second pad) just won't happen for most of them. They do not give a crap about graphics or daunting controllers (the only 2 selling points of WiiU if you already have Wii). It will only hurt the sales number further when the core gamers are unable or unwilling to sell them on the new one. The core gamer is and always will be vastly important for console game markets. Looking just at the Wii, anyone can notice that investors are completely off the ball with how well a system will do. Nintendo's stock plummeted when they announced the Wii because the dumbass investors left. It was us, the core gamers, that knew it was going to be awesome. It was us who forwarded Nintendo's campaign words to the outsiders (moms, and other non-gamers). Words they otherwise would have never payed attention to. Pending something amazing, WiiU is going to do near as bad as GameCube. I wholeheartedly believe that. ..and it makes kitty sad.

Totally Agree with this, Myself though I'll be pre-ordering. Definitely going to get the New Mario Bros. Might try a third party game also, I still haven't decided which one yet. Curious if it has been said if the black WiiU console will be available at launch?

Thanks guys, was it just me or did nintendo's seem like they were saying "Go to e3.nintendo.com to see what we have for the wii u" I was fairly disappointed but it is for investors. I'm really waiting for Halo 4 and Tomb Raider, SC Blacklist also looked cool. Tomorrow is the last day, I hope the TBA Nintendo game is something awesome(maybe a WW type game) ps. Nintendo never said the wii u's price right?

I think the Wii succeeded for a variety of reasons. One of the primary reasons was that it was inexpensive with a long life. In this regard, the GameCube was also a success. Sure, the PS2 crushed that generation of consoles, but the GameCube was small, it wasn't hot, and it hardly ever broke down, even if you took it to your friend's house. And I bet you Nintendo didn't lose money on it.
The other reasons largely depend on market. For casuals, Nintendo as always managed to create games with a compelling social interaction angle. For hardcores, I think it was the pointing mechanism. Motion controls were gimmicky, but pointing was absolutely revolutionary. It was natural and intuitive, where analog sticks are clunky and awkward. It was as smooth as a mouse, and I asked myself how I ever played a game without pointing before.
It's been long enough that the 360 and PS3 technology is cheap enough to be sold at Nintendo's price point. If they can once again create compelling social games for casuals, and manage to provide a fresh new experience with this tablet...if I can say to myself, "how did I ever play a game without this before?", then they will succeed. But they cannot pull another 3DS; they cannot launch with a pitiful lineup of games.

Agreed but for one thing. The wii never(and doubt will ever) appeal to the gamers that play systems like the PS3 and Xbox 360 hardcore. The Xbox had the RROD but that was fixed and those gamers bought the new one do to the lasting appeal. I personally doubt I would by a new wii if mine breaks do to it's lasting appeal. Nintendo can dominate the market if they made games or got 3rd partys to make games with longer lasting appeal and more games like Halo Uncharted and Mass Effect as to get the hardcore gamers. Lasting appeal and game content is what brings in money in my opinion. Family's with younger kids definnitly buy more of the games that Nintendo sells because of the content. Appeal is what makes people get the next one. The two go hand in hand, content sells the game initally appeal continues selling it. So Nintendo has to produce more games that attract the hardcore and make it have those two things and apply it to the wii u and it will sell well. Will they succeed in that.... probebly not because they want to keep what they have to insure they last another gen. So get out of your comfort zone a bit Nintendo and try different games along side the family friendly, it may just boost the company way up.
