Most brutal game?

Anyone knows some bloody games or plays some? Actually for me, the only game that scares the fuck out is DEAD SPACE.
Which one do you think is the most brutal game ever? :P

I've never been more terrified when playing a game than when I play Minecraft in a dark cave.

Seriously.

I was digging gold ore out from above me in a dark natural cave AND A KAMIKAZE CREEPER FELL ONTO ME!
That was last weekend. I have not yelled like that in years. Scared the bageezus out of me.




Other than that, I've heard "Eternal Darkness" is a great one for the scare/psychological factor.



As for gore alone.... Manhunt with the de-patch that lets you see everything as it was when it got rated AO.

Mortal Combat would say is pretty brutal. But I don't know much about manhunt so I'm sticking with mortal combat. As for scare factor games don't really scare me except once in fallout 3 I turned around just as a super mutant blew my head off. That made me jump. But I have a habit of talking to the screen when playing so occasionally I shout Oh My God.

For gruesome, I like Left 4 Dead 2.  Lots of blood and guts.

For scary, I like Fatal Frame series.  The first Fatal Frame was okay, but the second one was *fantastic*.  Blew my mind.  It's terrifying when a big nasty ghost is coming at you and your only weapon is a freaking camera.

L4D2 isn't all that bloody from the bit I played on xbox. But then again people get desensitized to blood and guts after seeing it a lot in my opinion.

L4D2 isn't all that bloody from the bit I played on xbox. But then again people get desensitized to blood and guts after seeing it a lot in my opinion.

You didn't look very closely, then.  When you melee enemies, blood is all over your screen.  When you gib an enemy, you can see the bones sticking out of their body.  When a common infected is ignited, it stumbles around and burns to a crisp, with the charred remains falling to the ground.

It's easy to miss these details if you're too busy killing zombies, but if you take a moment to actually look at the game - like the spitter's pink thong - there's a lot of detail to the game.  It's pretty old and goes on sale for like $5 a few times a year.

Problem is, I think the German version is low-violence (i.e. no blood, no gibs).

I think there was some sort of German law that required they censor the gore.  Not entirely sure on the details, but I do know Germany and Australia have a censored version.  In exchange, Valve game them CS:S weapons.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

I'm glad that this game gets a mention.  I played the Penumbra series before this one and loved them.  They weren't half as scary as Amnesia is.
There is none of the typicals "loud noise with leaping monster" kind of frights.  It uses atmosphere and your own mind to terrorize you.

If you want a scary game...I suggest that one ;)
