Hey guys

Haven't been around for ages and just went back to my Wii to play something and get back into things. I cant seem to hook into any games however so i wondered if there was any way of checking my USB Gecko is OK? Gecko dotNet just says it cant connect whatever I try

Any ideas?

When HBC starts, there are two icons in the lower right.  One is for Internet, the other is for the USB Gecko.  Do they light up?  That would tell you whether the Wii-facing side is functional.

Also, make sure the USB Gecko is in slot B.

Also, make sure when the USB Gecko is plugged into the PC, and then check Device Manager under the USB node for "USB Serial Converter".  That will tell you whether the PC-facing side is functional.

They all seem to be ok. Icon is there, it's in Slot B and the USB Serial Converter is showing.

Perhaps I've been unlucky with my Hook choices? What's a sure deal in terms of a game and hook?

thanks

If you have the USB Gecko icon lit and USB Serial Converter is in Windows, then everything should be okay.

What game are you trying?  Is this a USB Gecko SE?

Generally, VBI (aka VI) hook works.  I don't think I've ever used any other hook.  Wii Play, Okami, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Tales of Symphonia, Ghost Squad, Obscure, Resident Evil 4...I know some people have to use OsSleepThread for games like Call of Duty.

When you say "hook into games", are you starting the game and connecting with Gecko.NET after the game is running, or are you using Gecko.NET to start the game from Gecko OS?

How is it "failing to hook"?  Does the screen go black?  Do codes just not work?  Does the game run but Gecko.NET can't connect?
