The reason they named the console "xbox" is cause they thought no one would play it? The reason they named it xbox is cause in windows when you want to quit/close a program, you click the xbox at the top right hand side. At least this is why I think they named it that. I did not read this anywhere on the internet and it was all thought up by me. What do you guys think about the reason microsoft named it xbox?

Because if you put X in the name of something, it automatically makes it cool/awesome/whatever.

If you look at the green design of the consoles logo and then look at the logo for DirectX on windows, you'll see similarities ;)

I think they called it "Xbox" due to the software architecture of the graphics engine.  Possible it's a redesign of DirectX for their console.

Just my theory.  Anyone know any more details?

Well now that the association has been made anyone that will know what "box" means will think of it. I'm sure xbox wasn't named xbox for that purpose. You are all ok, it's part of associations and not mental health.

Although, if you get turned on by the actual console ( not the games but the actual console) then yes, you would have to get some therapy to dissociate, (reward the natural occurrence of attraction and punish the attraction towards the console.)
