so youtube decided to suspend my account because AnkamaTV filed a claim on one of my videos (falsely i might add)

@_@ hopefully I can get my account back. Any advice would be greatly welcomed since I'm kinda pissed off (losing 4k subs and a video with 1million+ views is not fun)

yea my NSMB video had just gotten over 1 million views. :( they're just protecting their own asses by suspending my account, but its still not cool... especially since its not a legitimate claim.

AnkamaTV is apparently a television division for Anakama which is a French MMORPG company...

It's definitely a false claim. Last I checked, Animal Crossing City Folk does not contain their Ads for their MMO... but i could be wrong.

No idea.. however, in the past multiple companies have just blocked videos they didn't like off YouTube.

Unfortunately it is often difficult to get them back. YouTube only allows videos back which you FULLY OWN - and making it short.. most of you probably do not have the license to show video game footage, basically video game mags or IGN need to ask publishers "May we post footage of game X" as the footage is owned by the game publisher/developer.

It is rare that videos get blocked which the submitter truly fully owns - and if they do the video is quite quickly back online as the submitter can file a counterclaim.

To quote a popular example in Germany where companies LOST:

[spoiler]A group of people produced a professionally made video describing the floors of the conditional access system (CAS) for television called CI+ and HD+ - those systems prevent recording of shows, shows might be auto-deleted, it is impossible to copy them on an external harddrive, they cannot be recorded to DVD/Blu-ray, you cannot fast-forward recordings (so that skipping ads is impossible) and such. Of course the TV companies always advertised CI+ as the great system with better age rating enforcement (you can indeed set up the CAS with passwords if a show which might only be watched by mature watchers) allowing channels to air movies for adults during afternoons (normally they mustn't be shown before 10PM for example). So the companies advertised that point as it unfortunately really is the only positive point for consumers while all other points I mentioned are anti-consumer and the basic idea is so that channels have to pay less license fees for a movie to air.

And well.. as that video demonstrated all the negative aspects about CI+ the big TV companies of course locked it.. multiple times by the way.. however, the creators always filed counter claims - Samsung even went as far to file a complaint because the video contains the Samsung logo - however it was only used for documentational purposes, thus it is legal to use it.[/spoiler]

isn't it kinda strange that they deleted/suspended your account and not just the video in question?
because i always thought youtube had a three strike model, two warnings, then blammo (like they keep doing with RuckaRuckaAli for example).

anyway, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that you can get your account reactivated.

i filed a formal complaint and the company never followed through, so youtube was obligated to return my content.

and i'm probably going to have everyone subscribe to that "backup" channel in case this shit happens again :S
