Yes, I think you need to have region free hack setup, and when running Gecko OS choose force NTSC.

As far as I know, Pikmin 2 NPC PAL will refuse to output a standard NTSC signal.  Supposedly 480p does work, if you have an HDTV.  If you can't get the PAL version to work on your NTSC Wii, you might consider getting the Japanese version... it works fine on a USA Wii, and the Japanese language isn't much of an issue because Pikmin 2 really doesn't have much text in the first place.

Now, if anyone has had any luck getting the PAL version to output an NTSC 480i signal, I would love to hear about it.

because i plan on getting it this christmas... which version should i get and where from. like whats a good place to get imports from. im not worried about the text because i have played the crap out of the gamecube version......

I googled the webs.. well, people reported it works using loaders such as Gecko OS even on US consoles however, the output HAS TO BE forced to PAL50 or PAL60 (PAL60 would be the preferred option) and VIDPATCH must be enabled. However, at that moment your Wii will output true, strict PAL video - you need to check whether your TV supports that. If you have a HDTV, like Biolizard said you can (and should) safely use 480p and a component/YUV cable.

Please note that S-Video cables do not work in PAL mode, you need an RGB cable (which US TVs do not support in 99.99% of all cases) or a basic composite cable.

If you want to check whether your TV supports PAL: many third-party games (if you have SEGA games use them.. 99% of them fully support PAL even in US versions) support PAL.. so boot them using Gecko OS and force them to use PAL60 or PAL50.. if your TV picture turns black and white your TV does not support PAL.

In that case the NTSC-J version would be your only option!

In worst case, try all games you have ^^ one of them should support PAL output (even quite a few Nintendo games happily output PAL) - for Capcom: give it a try.. if all games appear in colour on your display - and not a single one happens to be black and white then your TV does support PAL!

For NTSC-J: Play-asia is a decent place to get it, yes!

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but I'm having problems playing NTSC channels on my PAL Wii. Specifically, I wanted to play the Parallel Worlds Zelda hack.

Screen just goes black when I load the game through Gecko. I have a component out cable to my TV. I've tried all sorts but nonthing works

Any ideas?
