Patching of IOS36 should not be required to get Wii Play to work.  If it doesn't work, then you might be doing something wrong.  Are you sure that you are using the correct region codes for the game?  Also, if you are using the correct region codes, what codes are you trying to apply to the game?

Yes I'm sure that I'm using the right region I'll try the other regions just in case. I tried going one by one so I don't think thats the problem. I was trying to use the NTCS-US [RHAE01] with these codes.

Infinite Lifes [James0x57]
04254590 38800057

Unlimited Tank Fire [James0x57]
04245CD0 38000000

Missiles Are Fast [James0x57]
04245D24 C03D0018

Can lay 16 Mines [James0x57]
04245BC4 38A00010

If you are using the correct region, then I don't see why it wouldn't work.  Could you look on the inner portion of the disc, and report the version of Wii Play that you have?  Perhaps there are two different versions.  Look at the following page to see where to look to determine what version of Wii Play you have...

Mine says RVL-RHAE-0A-1 USA

Mine says RVL-RHAE-0A-1 USA

Mine says RVL-RHAE-0A-0 USA.  Sorry if you have said this before, but have you ever been able to use codes on that Wii Play disc?  I have the "0A-2" version of Twilight Princess, and the "0A-0" codes did not work for me.  Maybe you are running into a similar problem?

Andmo25

No, I did say that I haven't been able to use hacks since 3.x days (making it seem like I was able to before) but the disk I used was a rental.

Doesn't anyone remember Galaxii?
If there's any code at all that you want to be button activated, or even able to toggle on & off, and I have the game, just PM me and I'll make it happen

Hi. I tried to install the patched I0S36, and I've followed it precisely. When it came to installing it, it said something like 'the wad file could not be found'. Could someone help me?

benny3t3

Careful to only press the A button once for each installation step... you may have accidently skipped an option to download ios from NUS. I have done that before
(online if you have wifi)

doomkaiber001

When I got to Patch ES_Identity, I left everything as it was and selected download Patched I0S36. It asked me where I wanted to get it from (defualt said SD device. I chose that, and I think thats where I went wrong. I'll go and try something different.

benny3t3

Yes, choose download from NUS, if you have wifi, and there is no internet connection problems, it should work.

doomkaiber001

Oh I chose SD card. I'll try it now!

doomkaiber001

Oh YEAH! It worked! Thanks Benny!

doomkaiber001

Ok... one problem. I chose Channel Launcher and the Wii Shop Channel was not on there. Any ideas why?

Exploits:
NOTE:  For all exploits listed here, the HackMii Installer will be used as an example of what can be used as the "boot.elf" or "boot.dol" file on the root of your SD card.

Game Exploits:
Twilight Hack:
Current Status:  Should work on all System Menu versions prior to 4.0.  Twilight Princess does not contain a System Menu in its update partition.

NOTE:  If you are on System Menu 3.4, you must use the Twilight Hack immediately after placing it onto your Wii console.  The next time you load the System Menu, the Twilight Hack will be deleted, and you will have to go through the process of placing it onto your console again.

Requirements:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
1 SD Card (SDHC is not suppported)
A way to access the SD card from your computer.

Steps:
First, backup your "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" save file, if you have one.  See the "Backing up save files" section of this guide to see how to do that.

If a "private" folder exists on your SD card, rename it to something else, such as "privateold."

Next, download the appropriate Twilight Hack save file (System Menu 3.4, or System Menu 3.3 and lower) from the link below, and extract the files...

http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/

Open the "twilight-hack-v0.1-beta1" or "twilight-hack-v0.1-beta2" folder, and you will see a folder named "private."  Copy that folder to the root of your SD card.

Next, you will need to place a "boot.elf" or "boot.dol" file on the root of your SD card.  Otherwise, the Twilight Hack will not have anything to load.  As stated above, the example that I will use is the HackMii Installer.

After you have done this, the file structure of your SD card should look like this...

SD:\private\wii\title\rzde\data.bin
SD:\private\wii\title\rzdj\data.bin
SD:\private\wii\title\rzdp\data.bin
SD:\boot.elf OR SD:\boot.dol

Place the appropriate region of the Twilight Hack save file onto your Wii console.  See the "Placing save files onto the console" section of this guide to see how to do that.  In addition, read the note below if you have a USA version of Twilight Princess...

NOTE:  There are two different USA versions of Twilight Princess.  If you have the USA version, you will need to identify which one you have.  The easiest way to do this is to look at the inner circle of the disc.  Look until you see either "RVL-RZDE-0A-0 JPN," "RVL-RZDE-0A-0 USA," or "RVL-RZDE-0A-2 USA."  If you have an "0A-0" version of the game, you will need to select the "TwilightHack0" save file.  If you have an "0A-2" version, select the "TwilightHack2" save file.

Insert the Twilight Princess disc into the console, and load it from the Disc Channel.

If you have the USA version, select the appropriate save file.  If you have another region, just select the only file that you see, which will be named "Twilight Hack."

When the game loads, execute the Twilight Hack by either walking backwards or talking to the person in front of you.

The Twilight Hack should then load the "boot.elf" or "boot.dol" file that you placed onto the root of your SD card.

System Menu/IOS Exploits:
Homebrew Channel Installer ISO:
Current Status:  Should work on all System Menus up to 3.2.

This method will not be supported in this guide, but I will at least mention it.  This method requires a drive chip, and involved running a disc and installing the Homebrew Channel from it.  In the past, this and the Twilight Hack were the only ways to run unauthorized code on the Wii.  As of now, there are several reasons why this will not be supported...

-  Team Twiizers no longer supports this method.
-  Requires a drive chip.
-  Requires the signing bug on the System Menu, which only exists on System Menu 3.2 and lower.
-  Bannerbomb has since been released, which also does not require a game to run.  If you can use this method, you can also use Bannerbomb.

I have updated this guide to include instructions on setting up and using LetterBomb, and instructions to obtain your MAC Address.  In addition, I have removed the instructions for the Twilight Hack and the Homebrew Channel Installer ISO, since there is no real use for them at this point.  However, if anyone would like to view the instructions for them, they are still available on the following post...

http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,6843.msg72837.html#msg72837

I am aware that there are other game exploits that are currently available, and I'll try to add them when/if I get the time, or feel like it.  I figure that Bannerbomb and LetterBomb are the best choices, anyway.  If anyone would like to write instructions for any game exploits that are not listed on this guide, I would be more than happy to add it and give you credit.

Again, if you see any errors in this guide, please let me know...

I have a feeling that I probably messed up somewhere with the spoiler tags.   :p
