Can somebody who knows what they are doing send me in the right direction please?

This is Wii Sports Training - Power Throws game.

Score of 234 is at the address 804EC190 (EA = 234)
The level is 8 and that is at the address 804EC180 or 804EC178 (08 = 08)
Pins I knocked down on last go is at 804EC17C (32 = 50)
Pins I currently need to knock down is at 804EC170 (4E = 78)

If I poke or edit these nothing happens, how can I get to them or manipulate things? Are they changed by pointers? Can I find things that update these addresses?

I created a gct code that overwrote them but that didn't change anything.

I simply don't know/understand enough at this stage :(
