I'm pretty new to all this, but recently I've wanted to use codes on a Wiiware game and was told Gecko is the way to roll. From what I've been told, there should be an option to Launch Channels on its menu, but the only options I see are Launch Game, Config Options, About, and Exit. My system menu is 4.2U, if that matters at all for my Wii. How can I get the Launch Channels option for the Gecko so I can go using some nifty codes on my games?

Gecko OS uses IOS36, if it still loads a cIOS if it finds one, i'm not sure. In both cases, if you install a patched IOS36(best:trucha+ES_Identify+nand access) you should get the option. Right now Gecko OS checks if channel launching will work, and if not, the menu option is not displayed.

I dunno if I installed cios.

IOS36? I thought I did, another guy directed me to http://wiibrew.org/wiki/DOP-Mii to download that and I thought I got IOS36 installed using that. Following his instructions, that didn't seem to work for me in the end. How would I go about this trucha thing, or do I even need to do that if the DOP-Mii did install IOS36, but the channels isn't showing for some other reason?

You should use Trucha Bug Restorer or DOP IOS mod to patch IOS36.
what you have to do is:
*Downgrade IOS15
*Load IOS15 to patch IOS36 and say yes if it asks to patch Trucha Bug, ES_Identify and NAND acces
*Restore IOS15

Do you have a link to a recommended one that I could use and give that a try? It sounds similar to what the other guy was telling me, however he told me to decline ES_Identify and NAND Permissions. Could that be why it didn't work when I tried his method?

Trucha allows to run trucha signed channels. ES_Identify/ES_DiVerify is a requirement to launch channels in general. And the nand permissions help a lot loading stuff from nand like channels, not sure if Gecko OS uses that to its advantage.

HeatMan

Yeah, after I accepted those my channels appeared, and my issue seems solved now, thanks for the help. :)
