Got my gecko now ive hit a wall... firmware?

I Finally got a USBgecko and managed to find  geckomusic, geckoload,geckodvd, and geckocard aswell as the gecko os 1.6d GC iso aswell as drivers and everything is working fine. But when i try to send anything from  the gecko apps to Gecko Os 1.9.3 the wii locks up and does nothing.
I have read there were updates to the firmware but have no idea where to find them or what to apply them with. I purchased my gecko from djdynamite who claims it was brakkens review unit so i suspect it could be on old firmware.

A nudge in the right direction would be appreciated.

NVM  I now have WiiRD working with 1.9.3 and will just use the old gecko os for the old gecko apps.
