Well, let's be honest.. while modchips allow(ed) for region-free gaming... they also allow for backups.. and honestly I am quite sure that 99% of all modchip owners used them for playing pirated copies.. 1% if less used them for the pure sake of importing!

Softmods: while they started very harmlessly.. the first thing started were WAD managers.. which were (seen for homebrew purposes) nearly worthless back then (they were good for avoiding disc updates though in case you wanted to play imports - just install the required IOS): it wasn't known how to do your own channels.. and whatever: but wait: they also allowed you to install channels you never bought for your system.

As time progressed.. backup loaders came.. and is there anyone able to convince me that not >90% of all users of homebrew on Wii mainly use it for being able to play pirated copies.. copies of games they NEVER owned.. Gamecube backup loaders followed.. and nowadays: USB Backup loader.. "great", you do not even need lose a worthy DVD-R for your piracy purposes.

Sorry but I think people should give Nintendo a chance.. to be honest.. while it's clearly illegal to use copies of games for demoing purposes.. I personally do not blame people who do.. unlike Xbox Live people really have no choice if they want to test games.. and do not have a retailer which would allow for game returns.. so for those people who have the clear intention: "Maybe I will really buy it!" Go ahead imo! Nothing really wrong.. just be fair and only play a little: like 2 or 3 stages.. a demo wouldn't allow you for more either!

However, I guess noone will argue.. that out of 100 softmod users.. 3 or maximum 5 think that way.. I have many mod (softmod/hardmod) users in my direct surrounding (who also complain that they barely get help by me when it comes to backup issues).. only ONE besides me thinks like that about demoing purposes - so when he has questions I try to get answers.. in Internet many people act as they'd think like that, thus normally I do not give any support about hardmods and softmods to online users at all.. I have no way to check whether people are really not lying other than pure trust.

Sure, it doesn't make playing them legal.. but imo it's still something different than copying just for whatever reason.

Oh and that "Games are over-priced" reason.. who forces you to get new games all the time.. can you even play them? If yes: get a life! And if you give games some weeks or even months after release.. then they aren't so pricy anymore. I work full-time on a job, I pay my rent, I pay my life.. if I always bought new top of the hood games.. I'd be pretty broke I guess.. my current income and balances allow for one full-price title every 2 months.. guess why in most cases I only get titles which are a few months old.

Games aren't overpriced its probably because people are to broke to buy them. :-\
but you're right link, nintendo should be given a chance,i always though everyone deserves a second chance ^-^

hmmm 40/50 euro's is kinda pricey compared to 40 euro's (sometimes 60) for a PS3 game in my opinion. (The Netherlands is way overpriced in games)

I think think the new copy protection is very good because you can use usb loader to start the game whith replaced files on DVD and then if you original DVD isn`t  in your wii the game crash if it is inside the game runs normaly (so you can use file replacement but not pirated)
sorry for bad english

working on pointer search(new version 35% ready) so I won`t make codes yet.

We have the same prices.. some Wii games are even 60â,¬ on release.. for most games I agree that this is overpriced!

If I import games from England than it would cost me around half of what they cost here.

Imported games, >:( they should be for all damn regions and wii should be region free. >:(

Nintendo has a quite strange region concept thing.. remember: Xbox 360.. mostly region free (games can include regions but well, very many games are region free).. PS3.. same (though with the difference, that Sony only allows region lockouts in exceptions, so 99%+ of all games are region free).

The Wii is the only fully region-locked console.. and seeing the DSi.. Nintendo seems to bring region coding to a whole new level - the DSi is the first major handheld ever to have them (SEGA Nomad is one of those not so major handhelds to have region coding) - but yeah, I think it's going to get worse on Nintendo side :(

Though I personally assume: the tightened region protection in 4.2 is to make the Wii safer against copies again.. because again I assume that modchip owners using non-region games in >90% of the cases use a piracy copy for that and not a properly imported one.. the losers are the honest people who really do buy imports!

I think imports are easier than making copies of the game.i failed each time trying to copy games.Didn't think i needed sofmods bescause my firmware was 4.1.i still dont use them

Well, back in 2007 before anyone heard of homebrew my Wii was already chipped with a WiiKey.. and admittedly.. with that one making copies was dead easy.. insert 2 GB SD card.. insert Config Disc.. select "Create game backup".. and it dumps the game onto SD card.. 15 minutes per 2 GB dump.. carry SD card to PC.. copy it over (3 to 5 minutes).. then next part.. 3 parts per game.. took about one hour and it worked.. it's a little walk here, walk there but it was still considerably fast compared to many ripping methods out there today!
