If i format my wii, will it affect my sysrem menu or will it just delete all of my channels and game saves

Formatting the Wii will delete all game saves and channels that have been added to the Wii console.  Also, I'm pretty certain that your Wii Shop Channel history will be erased.

The System Menu will remain the same.

No, it just deletes your saves and channels.
I don't know why Nintendo even made it :-\

Everything he said is correct except your Wii Shop Channel History is NOT erased, you can actually redownload whatever games you've already paid for.  Trust me on this because I did reformat my Wii.

Thanks for clarifying that.  I must have misread something on that Nintendo website.

Thats alright, though you got to admit it seems pretty cruel if it didn't save your Wii Shopping Channel history...especially because you pay for all the stuff you get on that.  The only thing you'd need to redo on the Wii Shopping Channel once you reformat is resetting up your connection to the internet when using the Wii Shopping Channel.
