How can I play a game without updating?

The new version of WiiFit has an upgrade, and I bet it is at least 4.1; I'm sure the new WiiSorts / motion sensor is the same. Soon disks will be out with 4.2 on them.

How do I disable these updates? Specifically, how can I make sure that someone who is just a "Pop the disk in, and play" person can play these games without upgrading the system?

I'm currently 3.4U, with the hackmii installer package installed. I've got the new Bootmii (IOS, not boot2), the new HBC, and the new DvdX package. I know that these will survive the 4.2 upgrade, but so far nothing I've seen makes me want to upgrade. At the same time, I know that these games will need the NEW IOS's in order to run.

So, I need to know how to install the new IOS's, avoid installing a new system menu, and avoid having updated (patched) older IOS's replacing.

Is this even doable? At the same time that there's a big "Do not upgrade to 4.2" on every page, there isn't anything about "Here's how to play games without upgrading".

You can avoid updates by booting the game through gecko os

Gecko OS is a non-starter. It has to be "Disable the automatic forced updates".
I know of a program that does this for 3.2U, but apparently having the new boot2 (which Nintendo is now forcing in the newest upgrades) prevents downgrading via AnyRegion changer.

Late last night I found this page:

But I have not had a chance to test it yet.

preloader has an option to disable it and also an option to autoboot into the wii so you can set it up and you wouldnt know its there

And I have 3.4U. Preloader would require going to 4.0 or 4.1.

How do I do that, without going to 4.2?

You can google for Waninkoko's updater to 4.1 - there is one it will upgrade your Wii to 4.1 without actually going up to 4.2 (although Preloader should work on 4.2 nowadays from what I hear by people)
