Hooks???

I just read in a posting that in order for Call of Duty WAW codes to work you have to use OSSleepThread hook.  It says make a file, gameconfig.txt" at the root of the SD card that contains the lines:

RVY?52:
hooktype = 6

I was able to get one or two codes to work without the hooks, so do I still need the hooks or not?

Another post says use Hook Type: Wii Pad.

From what I'm reading they all use USBGecho with these hooks. Can someone tell me what they are and which to use if you are just trying to use codes?

Also someone said you have to use at least 3 codes for them to work is this true?

You could just try every hook, just go to the options in gecko and change the hook type.
But if the codes work with default then there's no need to change them.

I guess if only four codes I try work out of the many that people say are working is it something I'm doing wrong?  Is the process I wrote above correct with the config file?
