Hi,

I am rather new to this...i sent my Wii for modding last year and i have been playing with it since then.
Problem is now i keep getting the infamous #002 error with new games that i've got :(
My set is a US-NTSC Wii 3.3U running Gecko OS 1.6d (color fix).
I did see the Homebrew when i went into Data Management>Channels

So can someone please guide me where to go from here? i am abit lost here......

Do i need to do a System Upgrade before i can update the Gecko OS?  How to see if it is a hardware mod? (My SD-Card is empty)

all help would be appreciated!

I believe you're missing the IOS(es) the newer game(s) need to run.

Try using WUFE and WADManager to install the missing IOSes without having to update your System Menu too.

Does this mean the Wii system files need not be updated if i wish to put in the new Gecko OS (1.9.2)?

I am kinda lost

memorris

I'm on 3.2 and i don't need to update to play new games.
I lode Gecko OS with the Homebrew Channel.
Which game are you trying.

there a few games that i've got all encountered the #002 error...
virtua tennis, Marvel ultimate alliance 2 are some of the games which i desperately wish to play...ehehe

i tried to copy the current Gecko OS 1.6d into the SD card.
I can see that a folder \private\wii\title\ANER (i found a content.bin inside) was created.
I have d/led the new 1.9.2 OS...so where should i put it? i unzipped the file and found a few folders.

As it says in the Readme in Gecko192 file
"Copy this folder to the 'apps' folder on your SD for load with the homebrew channel."
If you go in to the folder of Gecko192 you will see 2 folders docs and Gecko192.
go in to Gecko192 you will see 2 more folders DOL and HBC gointo HBC.This one is for the
homebrew channel.
Copy that folder to the apps folder on your sd card.Put the sd card in your wii
now boot up the wii start the hombrew channel now start Gecko192.
There you go all good i hope :)
You do have the Hombrew channel installed dont you.
if not you can getit from here.

Yeah i read the readme.txt.
As the 1.6d Gecko OS was installed in the Wii system there is no apps folder on my SD card (Its newly formatted)
The \private\wii\title\ANER (i found a content.bin inside) was only created after i copied the Gecko OS from the Wii system to my SD card (all done within Wii). The Homebrew Channel is also residing inside the Wii System.....(not sure which version)
So where do i create the apps folder? within \private\wii ? or the root folder?
If possible, can tell me what other folders are required within the apps folder...
and...do i need to erase the old Gecko OS that is residing in my Wii system?

memorris

Yes the root folder.
nothing ells needed to boot Gecko 1.9.2.
There is loads more homebrew stuf.Example Games and Emulators and so on.
Have a look at.

"Do you need to erase the old Gecko OS."
I don't now sorry all i have installed on
my Wii is bootmii and the HomeBrew channel.
I don't think it maters if you leave it there or erase it.

i can only see Back, About, Reload and Exit when i press the home key on my wiimote.
I already copied the DOL and HBC folder into the apps folder in the root of my SD Card.
I cant see the Gecko OS in the homebrew channel....did i missed out anything?

memorris

make a folder on your sd card with the name (apps).
now in that folder copy only the the folder with the name Gecko192 in to it.
you can find it in the HBC folder.
in the Gecko192 folder there is files with the names boot.elf   icon.png   meta.xml.
that's the folder you need to copy not the DOL or HBC folder.
