Interesting approach.. now it seems Nintendo has finally made drives with the drive interface removed (so that conventional modchips like WiiKey or Wasabi) do not work anymore as well as additionally a new drive command layer which doesn't allow switching to DVD mode anymore (which is done by the DVDX code in software loaders). If both are really eliminated - then it sounds likely that backup DVDs on these are finally gone!

So a DriveKey (which basically uses a modifcation of the softmods) also does not work - it will probably only allow for region free stuff and update patches (as it patches the data from the drive in that case).

But now again the question to me: Why so late? 3 months ago maybe this would have been a shock. But now.. USB loaders have become the new alternative.. some hardcore modifiers solder internal 1.8" USB harddrives into their Wiis - and I am very certain that those things are not blocked.. so well.. what do you expect next? As the Wii has USB ports I can only assume they'll limit the USB speed (like to 11 MBit/s - which is most likely enough for LAN adapters in most cases, online play is easily possible but this would make USB loaders no fun anymore).

But really: they are so slow, it's really sad.

If I look over to the Microsoft.. http://www.free60.org warns ever user not to update their Xbox 360 because Microsoft fixed a boot code exploit - Microsoft fixed the exploit before it was ever used! Nintendo: I already wondered enough that 4.1 didn't fix Bannerbomb!

Microsoft has money to waste. Nintendo cares less about the small % that pirate games, but they probably should care more. I think they really think that the number of pirates is less than it is.

Check out my site with codes obviously...

In the last 10 days, people from 101 countries/territories have accessed the code database. :3 Since Nintendo isn't a fan of codes (though, for offline ones, they're really short sighted about it and should even potentially appreciate them..), it adds to the surprising lack of attention to the holes.

Oh, and I must point out that not ALL of Nintendo hates codes: I had the pleasure of meeting an N sales rep who was fascinated by it when I spilled my guts to her. :P

True that.. I guess Nintendo should have tried collecting data whenever they block piracy.. like sending a WC24 message whenever 001 or 002 appears.. I guess they would have gotten more messages than expected. Still Nintendo is kinda lucky that they have 90% of the casual gamers on their side.. and those don't pirate and pay good money for worthless stuff like Wii Fit (Plus) and such.
