it makes you into a skeleton form of yourself if you cant get the code to work try looking at yourself when you get shocked and you'll see yourself in skeleton mode...

Yes. Something interesting to note is that when Skeleton Mario/Luigi gets a star, he magically has hair and ears, making for a very weird image. :p

Does pressing the + button bring up the pause screen?  If so then the code isn't enabled.  The effect should be instantaneous after you press the + button.
