Newbie, simple question about backing up save games

Hey all. I don't have Gecko OS installed yet, but I'm on 4.0 and I already have the HBC installed.

My needs are simple: I want to be able to back up all of my save games (meaning Guitar Hero, Mario Kart, etc) to either transfer back to the same Wii, or transfer to a new Wii if my current one craps out and I need to replace it.

That's it. No cheats, no playing of burnt games, none of that. I just want full backup/restore protection for all my save games.

So my questions:

1) Is Gecko OS the right tool for the job, or is it overkill? Something simpler I should be using?
2) Can I safely update to 4.0 if this is all I care about?
3) Can I transfer these save games to a new Wii (with a new Wii#)?

Gecko OS I think would be the best tool for the job...however, I don't know if rebooter which is required to backup saves is currently working on 4.0.
After backing up no. 3 will work! :smileyface:
