OK here goes I am a newbie to wii backups and etc, I bought the wii usb gecko with the thought(from posts from usbgecko homepage) thats this was a click and go type solution to wii backups ITS SOOO NOT, First off there are NO simple explanations for a step by step to make backups using this device. Install homebrew channel blah blah etc etc this that

I dont want to have to install homebrew channel etc. I was told this was a plug and go type device I have been making backups of Movie dvd's since the first blank dvd was made and I have been playing on game consoles since the first pong now with that said.

I like other newbs with the device just ask for a simple step by step for using the device and a piece of software and a computer attached to the wii with the Usbgecko no homebrew channel stuff. and the FAQ on usbgecko is useless it tells you nothing on how to do a rip from the wii to the device with just your comp NO homebrew channel.

Unlike most of the people on these forums I guess don't live day in and day out on my wii, I just want to be able to make backups of games I own so that if the disc gets scratched I am not out the 50 bucks the game cost.

Yes I have a modded wii with a wiikey installed
I have a usbgecko, I just want to know what program to install on my computer to then plug in the usb cable from the usbgecko into and then click on a program and make a backup without having to install or do anything else. with a homebrew channel or anything like that

YES I am being a pain or very demanding but I like other newbs to this just want a SIMPLE answer to this simple question.

Thanks

Use a Gecko Gamecube boot disc of your region.. burn it.. and then use the Gecko Software to rip the game.

Ripping in Wii mode is not yet possible so there is no need to install a HBC for ripping!

ok im having some serious trouble aswell, i followed the instructions from the guide page on how to extract a dvd but it seems to be missing a big step.
it says to burn the gecko OS.ISO to dvd the insert and boot, then to open the gecko dvd tool and choose the game type and extract but then what?

it starts to extract a dvd but the only thing in the drive is the gecko OS.ISO that i was told to put in there, it doesnt say anything about inserting the game i want to extract or how to go about this.

what is going on?
ive been trying to backup a dvd for weeks now and every time i ask either the gecko support or someone on a forum they keep sending the same info or directing me to it, which doesnt help.

what the hell is going on?

Nuke

1. Boot the Burn Gecko OS 1.06d fixed DVD
2. Swap the DVD with the Game you want to burn.
3. Open the Gecko DVD PC Application.
4. Select Wii Single Layer DVD type.
5. Press Extract.
6. Give a filename to save it as.

The game will then rip to your PC hard drive under the filename you saved it as, it will take a 2-3 hours showing a progress bar on the Wii screen.

The only big step your missing is you need to swap the Gecko OS DVD with your 'Original Game'.

I added step 4 on the guide
