it depends on the game there's no dependable way to say if it will or not....

old games tend to load music and then not constant refresh so no freeze....

maybe i posted this i think this is dejavu....

It also beeps when you trigger a breakpoint or do a memdump, neither are crashes.

I'm sure most of the time it's because someone crashed the game though.

wats a breakpoint

it's a way to check what ASM line reads or writes to a certain address.
you give WiiRD the address and it constantly check it and when it is accessed the Wii will "break" and show you what ASM code has accessed that address.

the beep sound starts when games stop streaming music to the audio output.. some games use streaming audio formats.. those are unlikely to beep if you do ram dumps as they are normally transferred using an external thread.. if games send the audio buffer via the main thread.. then they beep..

if you use the VI hook you'll most likely hook the main so most games who do not create seperate audio threads will beep.. if you use Wii Remote and GC hook you in some cases only pause the control thread.. this will still pause the game but music might continue.

A breakpoint however happens on the CPU and will pause all threads! Always!

could be possible i guess to disable audio by poking the regs, then re-enabling it, but would have to be a small patch, as we have new code types now so handler is getting smaller for codes.

i'll look into it for gecko 2.0 release

quite funny actually, sometimes different games have different beep noises, wii sports and mario strikers have no beep, mario galaxy has its own unique horrible beep and call of duty WAW + super smash bros brawl have their own beep, havent experienced any other beeps lately

No, the beep is not game dependent, its just one fragment of the music, so if you click "next" in WiirdGUI you will hear another fragment so another beep.

the pitch changes because the game loads the sounds one pitch per frame, since wiird skips ahead 5 frames or so it's natural that the sound would change pitch. Songs change pitch. If you've ever heard really laggy audio you could relate to the tones.

all beeps are different because they are loading different audio at the time of the freeze.
so if you try and do it when the sound's most quiet your beep wont be as loud/bad
