Hi:

I just bought a Gecko and was able to successfully install the Homebrew Channel on my Wii.  I saw a YouTube video of someone doing lots of stuff with the Gecko, including backing up games, etc.  It says GeckoTool on the screen - where can I find this software?

I can't seem to be able to do anything with the Gecko without it.

Please Help.

Thanks

Draganta

Go Here and download the  Gecko OS 1.06d for Wii.
Put the geckoos folder that is inside the HBC folder, in the apps folder on your SD Card.
Start GeckoOS on the homebrew channel and either

-geckocard: Memory Card tool
-geckoload: Can load .elf and .dol files
-geckomusic: hear music? (have not used this one yet)

Thanks...I downloaded the OS 1.6d, and was able to access the Gecko Card through the Homebrew Channel.  However, from a video clip I saw on YouTube, someone was using "GeckoTool" to perform various tasks, such as making backups and the like.

I am searching for this "GeckoTool" software.

Also, if there are any guides to setting up the Gecko (other than just setting up the Homebrew Channel which I already did), I would much appreciate if someone would send me the link.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

By the way, what is a .elf and .dol file?  Also, what does Geckocard and Geckoload do?

Thanks...so which software do I need in order to make backups of my disks?

So far I have been using an LG DVD drive and Raw Dump.  However, I can't make a backup of Super Smash Bros because my LG drive can't read the DL disk.

Another weird thing is, the Gecko didnt recognize the Super Smash Bros disk when I inserted it into the Wii.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for all your help to the people who responded.  I got the DVD ripper working and am now in the process of backing up SSBB.

Now I will focus on learning the other functions of the Gecko.

I only wish someone would write a detailed instruction manual for newbies.
