The Latest Wii Update

I've never had to update yet since I installed HBC, but on October 24th I received Wiimail saying there's a new update.

Is there any procedure I need to do?  What effects is this Wii update gonna have on my Homebrew Channel and my installed WAD for Super Smash Bros. 64?

Do NOT install the update normally.  Use one of these apps to update: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Shop_and_IOS51_installer

UPDATE 2: The homebrew channel can be installed if you use the new version (beta9). The installation won't fail!

No, that only applies if you already have the update installed and want to install the homebrew channel.  It is very preferable to have the hacked updates instead because the normal update will break some homebrew.
