Okay.. Nintendo published a new update for the Wii shop channel.. however.. IOS files are also replaced... and that changes the system functionality:

Summing up gbatemp posts it seems:
-HBC still works after installation, Gecko OS also does
-Twilight Hack 0.1b still seems to work
-HOWEVER, HBC installation fails
-All IOS files are signature fixed - this most likely means that even Gecko OS can't run trucha-signed discs anymore
-Backups and Imports with modchips are unaffected - they still work
-Wii Shop channel is not accessible if you continue using 3.3 or older
-downgrade using WAD manager or related tools to 3.2 or 3.3 does not seem to work

All information is just a mash-up of GBATemp posts.. no warranty!

UPDATE: If you just want to have the new Shop: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Shop_and_IOS51_installer
Thanks for everyone on these links!

UPDATE 2: The homebrew channel can be installed if you use the new version (beta9). The installation won't fail!

Wow, lame.. Can't they get in trouble for not letting us use the Wii Shop Channel without upgrading? Seems kinda bullshit to me, especially if you have points to spend..

Romaap

Wiibrew description of what the update does...

http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_System_Updates

QuoteUpdated all IOSes, and IOS51

This blocks new installations of anything fakesigned, that is, Homebrew Channel, wads (legal and illegal), Starfall, cIOS, anything that installs IOSes secretly like AnyRegion Changer or AnyTitle Deleter, xyzzy and DVDX (used for apps which have DVD support). The homebrew developers are already planning how they could work against this. If something is already installed then it isn't affected, like Homebrew Channel, etc. You currently need this update to access the Wii Shop Channel. It updates all IOSes with the fakesigning bug, and adds IOS51.

As always, they are punishing legal users, in fact modchipped consoles are unaffected...
I'm sticking with the 3.2E, I have already buyed the VC titles that I wanted...

Bushing said he already knows how to fix it, just a matter of time.
Don't worry, just don't update.

i already updated. It doesn't make a difference if you use a wad installer to install the HBC. so you can just put wad installer in root, load with twilight hack, install HBC and boom

Edit: wad installer blocked by update >_<

so is downgrader....

I hope this is fixed soon, I can't use anything I have on my homebrew channel. :/

What are you having problems using?  Unless the homebrew application(s) that you are using makes an attempt to modify your System Menu, or install anything to it, they should still work.

This update stopped me from getting on my Wii entirely. It just stopped at the health thing and I can't get by it. I tired turining it off, puting a game in, and unplugging it.
Please help. :(

Just curious, but did you have any hacks like Starfall installed onto your Wii?
