No green gecko?

Though I installed the USB gecko driver and the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package, I don't get a green icon ,thus no connection,in the Gecko OS 1.07a  menu...switching from port a to b or vice versa didn't help...as the Wii RD GUI recognizes the USB Gecko when plugged in, the problem must have something to do with the memory card slot....
Does anyone know how to fix this?

hm.. please check the following:

-open your device manager - in the category "Universal Serial Bus Controller" a device called "USB Serial Converter" should exist - if it's there.. the USB Gecko is properly connected
-try a gamecube game with a memory card in Slot B..

When opening Gecko OS the Gecko should be on slot B (left slot). If it's grey.. well.. maybe just try using WiiRd GUI. Maybe it works anyway

First, I wanna thank you for your answer. Anyway,the device is properly installed ....maybe ,it got damaged on its long journey to Germany ^^ ....
but I'm gonna check whether the Wii plays gamecube games with a memory card inserted...
