I got Windows 7 64 bit and was wondering if anyone knew the where the offical drivers for it are. I used my usb gecko disc and it seemed to install them but my usb gecko has problems hooking and staying hooked. It dies randomly. I have used the search function here on wiird and got nothing but dead links and old topics that I didn't want to bump.

Thanks in advance.

I'm on the same setup and just clicked the 'Update Driver' button in the properties of the USB Serial Converter

Some Gecko.NET users had problems with FTDI drivers, too.  Updating their driver solved the problem.

The official D2XX driver page is here http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm  2.8.14 is brand new.  It's WHQL certified so Windows Update will deliver it to you, as opposed to having to install it manually.

Ctrl-Alt-Del

Close gecko.net in task manager, its probably crashed

Be careful about switching between WiiRDGUI and Gecko.NET.  Gecko.NET now secretly applies two patches two bugs in the code handler using C2 codes.  If you switch back to WiiRDGUI and send new codes, the game will crash because WiiRDGUI didn't know about the patches.

I posted the patches as C2 codes, so if you want, you *could* still use them with WiiRDGUI, you'd just need to apply the patch codes to every game as the first C2 codes in the list.

The code handler bug fixes are here.  http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,8125.0.html

Switching is only a problem if you send codes with WiiRDGUI.  Every time Gecko.NET "Sends Codes", it sends the two patches along with the codes you apply.  If you then go to send codes with WiiRDGUI instead, it won't send the patches.

Have you ever tried applying a C2 code, and then applying a different C2 code without the first one?  You can get a dangling branch, potentially a crash.

So WiiRDGUI is safe if you don't send codes with it.  Otherwise, apply those two C2 codes with WiiRDGUI and it won't cause any problems.

In fact, you can apply those two patches without ever using Gecko.NET, if you'd like to get the positive effects of the patches.  Just make sure you're using the 1.9.3.1-style code handler (the notes in the second post of the thread above).
