USB+USB Gecko?

Can USB Gecko still make hacks even if I load my game from a USB? I've been getting some help learning Pointers at mdmwiis Forum. Click here to view the topic I've been having trouble making the code and I was wondering if you can make hacks using a USB Gecko.
