HBC and Bootmii update...

I've yet to update HBC and bootmii but I've got a few questions about them first.

I have bootmii installed as boot2.
It says that if I have bootmii as boot2 then I could use the mini version of the loader.  Will this ALSO update bootmii?

Does the bootmii update need to put anything new on the SD card?  Such as when you first install bootmii it prepares the SD card.

Will nand backups from the previous version still work with this version?

Are there any known issues with bootmii? (couldn't find anything on this)

I used the MINI version of the HackMii Installer, and it updated BootMii as boot2, so yes, the MINI version will also update BootMii as boot2.  In addition, both versions of the installer need BootMii as an IOS, so that will be installed as well.  If you don't want BootMii as an IOS, you can uninstall it afterwards.

If I remember correctly, it will update the files on the SD card before it installs/updates BootMii as boot2, so yes, it will update files on your SD card.

I don't see why they wouldn't.  I can't say for sure, though.
