First off i'm new to the wii and wii hacking.  I just got my wii 2 weeks ago and started hacking last week.

My wii version is 4.2U or 4.2 V hard to tell which
it's a LU55
I have HBC installed not sure which version
Gecko 1.9.3 installed
Ocarina installed

I have successfully used both ocarina and and Gecko to cheat on games on disc, but have not been able to figure out how use either of them on wiiware games.

I have been searching this forum and a couple of others for a few days to figure it out, but have not found any specific instructions.  I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered already but if someone could give me detailed instructions or a link to detailed instructions it would be very much appreciated.

Gecko Codemaster

I will do some research on this.  I have the same problem.  It is not that there are different versions.  Because I have the newest one.  I am very sure its because I have a 4.2 wii.  So that may not allow me to use channels or my wii could crash.  Im guessing team twiizers or whoever made gecko is working on somthing for wii verson 4.2 because Im waiting for this too!!
Nintendo is throwing thier computers at walls because they cant beat the power of gecko. O0

If you use a Wii with default settings, that means that the WiiWare option deactivates after you upgraded to 3.3v2 - you can recover it. You need to download a patched IOS36 with Dop_IOS or Trucha Bug Restorer. In case you have an old Wii IOS36 v1042 is also fine but that one won't work on new Wiis.

With a patched IOS36, WiiWare games also work in Gecko OS on recent Wiis!

So your saying my wii could crash or brick if i did use it on 3.3 and up?  Well.  Darn.  I have 4.2.

I didn't say that. I said that IOS36 does not always work on new Wiis. However: the system menu does not use IOS36. The system menu 4.2 uses IOS70 (4.1 and 4.0 use IOS 60). IOS60 and IOS36 are completely unrelated. If you install the old IOS36 and it does not work.. it just means that applications using IOS36 will just black screen (like Gecko OS). However: the system menu is NOT affected, and will remain usable. In case IOS36v1042 does not work.. then take a new one with DopIOS (DopIOS works) or take the Trucha Bug Restorer and install a new but patched IOS36 - even if installing those fails: it still won't attack your system menu!
