Force NTSC 60 Hz Mode doesn't work with Gamecube imports on PAL Wii.

Good evening everyone, Anjumastu from France here.

Here's something i've noticed :

When trying to boot Gamecube US and japanese imports, it boots in PAL 60 mode. I'm running the lastest version of GeckoOS (V1.9.0.1), whatever mode i try yo force it into, it still boots in PAL 60 mode, which some TV sets are incompatible with, even here in Europe.

And when i'm using it in conjuction with RCA to USB dongle  i bought for my PC (to record video from consoles on your PC) it results in colors messed up. the image is all greenish. That kind of accessory is only compatible with classic PAL 576i 50 Hz mode and NTSC 480i 60 Hz mode, not with the hybrid PAL 480i 60 Hz mode.

So... is GeckoOS NOT intended to be able to force Gamecube imports into a specific mode or is it a broken feature in the latest version ? Or might there be some way to force US and Japanese gamecube games in NTSC 60 Hz mode, like it already does perfectly for Wii Games (works great by the way, great job everyone !)

So there it is. That's my issue with GeckoOS.

Thanks in advance everybody for your support.

Anjumastu from France.

No hint as to why it doesn't work ?

I thought it was a simple question though.

Is it supposed to work for GameCube games at all or not ?

If it is then why doesn't it work ? Are there any plans to make it work in the future ?

That has most likely some things to do also with bc and mios.. bc always switches to PAL50 - no matter which color space your Wii is set to.. I am not sure if it is possible to force NTSC in Gamecube mode seeing even Gamecube Freeloader or Gamecube Action Replay are capable of doing so!

The thing is most people in Europe have PAL 60 compatible TV sets, so DATEL and other freeloader-like and action replay manufacturers didn't bother implement the choice between NTSC and PAL 60 (in fact there are more TV sets compatible with PAL 60 than with NTSC, and those compatible with NTSC are usually already compatible with PAL 60 as well).

But it's still an issue when trying to record the games with some capture cards.

That doesn't automatically mean it's impossible to force, since when booting through gecko, the game launches in Pal 60, and i've at last figured out that when rebooting Wii in Region-free mode, then launching the game through Disc Channel, the games launch in PAL 50 mode (some with black borders below and above the image, some others with only one huge Black border at the bottom of the screen).

Studying how it works might reveal some way to trigger NTSC in Gamecube mode ??

Since there's no already existing example that shows how to do so, and as there's few people who might want to see this implemented in GeckoOS, i suppose there's no chance that this problem is solved anytime soon ?

Anyway i've had some bits of answers already, thanks Link. Now at least i know it's an already known issue with GeckoOS (and old GCBoot as well as a matter of fact).
