Hi Guys,

I had the original post on the blog before the forum was up and running again and still have issues:

"I am getting a "checksum mismatch packet 12aab" error message from DVD extractor in the USB Tools GUI, I believe there were responses to this previously in the forums hwoever these have now gone - any idea on whats happening and any rectification?"

"It is a bug in the wasabi drive code. I tried to email them about this and it bounced. The game should still play as there is normally not data at the end of the dvd.
One user made a switch to turn off the mod once Gecko OS loaded and this sorted the problem out, which is how i know its a Wasabi problem.
There is a 3rd party ripper in the download section which has a work around so to speak".

So anyhow the DVD is not recognised in the wii, what is the 3rd party ripper? Also would i get better results by using certain DVD writeable media?

Any suggestions here would be appreciated, I got the USBGecko simply for backups.

cheers

i also get the 12aab and all discs play. you must have another problem.
if you use wiiscrubber on the isos you will see that in the end there is just padding which is left out.

you also get the same result with any other wii-based ripping method, btw.
even with IOS37 + http dump.

The checksum mismatch packet 12aab error is a  Wasabi mode chip problem.
solut and many other Wasabi users had the problem as you.On the old forms.
solut coded out a workaround for this but he did want feedback but did not get it on the forms people mite of p.m him or emailed him i do not no..
Her is the GC-MODE DUMP2USB v1.0 BETA 1 by solut ([email protected])

update :
To extract a wii game to you hard drive your hard drive has to be in ntfs format not Fat formatted which has a file system restriction to 4GB.

I have a Wiikey with the latest update and I'm trying to make a backup of Zelda Twilight Princess. I am having issues using the usb gecko dvd extraction tool, i have done this extraction 3 times now with no success. The ISO get's created and it is the correct size. I have backed up several games before using the wiikey dvddump tool with complete success from the first attempt. I know how to burn the files correctly etc but the ISO usb gecko produces doesn't even get recognised when inserted into the wii. I am using the same media i have used for my previous 4 backup's that work perfectly. Is there something i'm missing about the USB gecko extraction method. I thought it would be quite simple as that's the impression i get from their website.

Hi Neo1975
Are you on Gecko V1.06d or Gecko V1 Beta 5 !!
The previous 4 backup's was it with wiikey dvddump tool or with the usbgecko.
The last time i done that game i was using  USB Gecko Firmware V0.4.2
and it went grate if you want to try a early version just to do you're backups they are in the download section on http://www.tehskeen.com/.
Gecko V1.06d or Gecko V1 Beta 5 are in the download section here on http://www.usbgecko.com/manual.htm

Neo1975

I'm using Gecko OS 1.06d that i downloaded from the "Gamecube USB GECKO Downloads" section on the Usb Gecko website. (i understand that you can only backup in GC mode). The Gecko V1 Beta 5 client gives me an error when i try to use it's extraction tool under the "Gamecude mode tools" tab.

The other backup's were done using various dvdump tools, Wiikey DVDump, SDDVD 0.1g. (just to try different dump programs)

The sequence i used is :-

1) Load the Gcos OS disc to boot Gecko Os 1.06d
2) Load the Game to be copied
3) Connect through the PC using Geckodvd program
4) Select Wii Single Layer then Extract.

I get a file that is the correct size, I burn it with Imgburn (the best program), i load the disc in the Wii and it doesn't even "see" it. no picture comes up in the game channel.

Is it Zelda itself ?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've also noticed that in previous Youtube video's you could update the firmware on the usb gecko chip, but all of the programs i've downloaded from the website that option isn't available anymore. Has it been handled that the OS you boot with auto flashes the chip to operate properly ?.

When I press extract dvd i get an error message that the application can't proceed :/ any help??

Neo1975

I found out what was going wrong.

The Gecko 1.06d OS loaded on the wii doesn't like to work with the Gecko client which is based on the Gecko Os 1 Beta 5. When i loaded the Beta 5 Os on the wii and used the client application for the DVD extraction it worked perfectly first time.

In the process of working this out i also tries extraction using the 1.06d Os on the wii and the GeckoDVD program. the resulting file is the correct size and burns but doesn't play. Is the 1.06d os and corresponding programs stable ?.

Nuke

I will look into that Neo1975.  on the topic a forum released a Wii mode ripper today, which supposed to be pretty neat.

Hey does anyone know what "Resending Packet" (followed by a couple of numbers and/or letters) means when it comes up in the Gecko DVD Extract Tool message window??? When it has come up the extraction always ends up freezing (ie: the white bar aint goin anywhere)
Any Suggestions as to what might be goin on?

hetoan2

do you have a modchip?

Besides it's easier to use Wiihttpd now it rips games to your computer without modchip...

just remember it's illegal to use games you don't own :|

swhite91

yer i got the XenoWii installed and it works perfectly. but the resending package thing isn't the problem anymore. now with some games i get Transmit Error Message which says "Error: Fatal USB Read Error". so i'm thinking it may have something to do with the cable or the Gecko itself...
