Fred

I have a PAL Wii with System Firmware 4.2.

I have a legit copy of Kirbys Adventure and it freezes up after the ship upgrade cut scene or minigames. Is this an error in Gecko OS and is there an available fix for it yet?

Yeah completely clean without any codes, im running it through gecko OS to evade the update that comes with the disc channel. I have the 1.3.1 Version of Gecko OS i believe, the one thats in homebrew channel.

Hmm okay that's odd... try another version of Gecko OS http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,3228.0.html

btw this game has a ASM protection! I wonder why it still freezes without any codes. However, just saying  :p
There's a patch available on this forum which patches some ASM addresses to bypass these freezes.

Maybe this will help you.

I assume this is the code i should try out on Gecko OS, to run this game:

Keep Gecko Breakpoint Handlers [dcx2]
F6000001 80008180
3EC38000 7EC3B378
4A100000 FFFFFFFC
D2000000 00000007
7F65DB78 2C030300
41820024 2C030400
4182001C 2C030700
41820014 2C030D00
4182000C 2C031300
40820008 38A00000
60000000 00000000
E0000000 80008000

I'd say that you should try a new codehandler first. Gecko Os 1.9.3.1 is the latest version so far.

Fred

Actually its already running 1.9.3.1 atm, i just didnt have it memorized.

Oh alright then... Yeah try to run the patch file.

BTW what happens if you run the game without gecko os?

Fred

Basically since i dont have preloader/priiloader on my wii i dont have any other ways to run the game except doing the disc channel update. And thats something i dont want to do since disc updates often force firmwares that blocks homebrew if im not mistaken.

Oh okay, yeah 4.3 is atm the latest update. Hmm yeah try to enable the patch.txt file!

As long as your HBC is up to date (v 1.1.0 is the latest) then you can update through the disc channel.  The only exception to updating is after Nintendo updates the system menu, and before the next HBC comes out.

Gecko OS uses a multi-dol hook which modifies ASM even if you have no codes applied.  This can trip MetaFortress protections.

My code for "Keep Gecko Breakpoint Handlers" will only help someone who is using a USB Gecko to set a breakpoint while trying to pause-start.  If you aren't doing that specific action, then the code is pretty much useless.  The reason it was needed is because if you set a breakpoint during a pause-start, the breakpoint handlers will be over-written while the game is booting and your breakpoint will never hit.  If you aren't pause-starting, then the breakpoint handlers will be installed when you set the breakpoint, which will be long after the handlers were overwritten.

You will want to use the SUKP01 gameconfig patches to disable MetaFortress.  http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,8972.msg77979.html#msg77979

Fred

So at my firmware 4.2E and the newest Homebrew update 1.1.0 i have nothing to worry about running the disc channel for kirbys adventure? Did it come with a new firmware update or anything?
